NEW VIDEO: With a Senneker assist, Yee, Riethmeyer test at Flat Rock for Joy Fair 100
(TOLEDO, Ohio – May 22, 2014) - Preparation for the Diamond Racing Products Joy Fair Memorial 100 is well underway at Flat Rock Speedway with several teams testing this week, including Hutto, Texas driver Brad Riethmeyer and Roseville, Michigan’s Stan Yee, Jr. The Joy Fair 100 kicks off the 2014 Discount Tire ARCA Gold Cup Series season.
Both drivers had an assist in the open test Thursday from second-generation racer Terry Senneker, on hand to help with his Senneker Performance chassis cars.
Senneker, who won the 2012 Glass City 200 at Toledo Speedway, would like to be doing more driving, but his growing customer base gets most of his time these days.
“We’d like to be racing fulltime, but we’re happy to be here servicing our customers,” Senneker said. “It’s especially busy this time of year. The customer comes first. If there’s time left over, then I get to drive.”
Scheduled to join Riethmeyer and Yee for testing Thursday afternoon were Chris Benson, Michael Simko and Grant Hedges.
Frank Jiovani, already a winner in the outlaw late model division at Flat Rock in 2014, tested Tuesday along with defending Gold Cup champion and three-time ARCA/CRA Super Series champion Scott Hantz.
Former Flat Rock late model champion Paul Pelletier tested Wednesday. Flat Rock champions Steve Cronenwett, Jr., Ron Allen and Eric Lee are scheduled to test Friday.
Forecast Picture Perfect for Joy Fair Memorial
The entry list is growing, the weather forecast is perfect and the excitement is building for the Diamond Racing Products Joy Fair Memorial 100 Saturday, May 24 at Flat Rock Speedway, with racing at 7 pm. The race for the track's ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models has been moved to Memorial Weekend to put a greater spotlight on the event, and on the memory of Joy Fair who is the all time leader in feature wins (159) and track championships (10) in ARCA late model competition at Flat Rock.
The race is also the first of five events for the 2014 Discount Tire ARCA Late Model Glass City Gold Cup Series. Race number two for the Gold Cup tour is at Toledo Speedway Friday, June 6.
