FLAT ROCK READY FOR JET’S PIZZA OPENER SATURDAY
(Flat Rock, Michigan - April 24, 2014) - Just 7 days ago, Flat Rock Speedway’s Joy Fair grandstand was covered with a sheet of ice from the melting snow of the storm 2 days prior. By last Saturday, however, the track was open for the annual pre-season test and tune. And this Saturday, April 26, the 61st season of racing begins with the Jet’s Pizza Season Opener at the ¼ mile asphalt oval.
Despite the rough winter and late, late arrival of spring, all systems are go for this Saturday’s first racing action of 2014, as the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models, Praxair Figure 8’s and DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks hit the track for the first green flag at 7 p.m.
The Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN) will be at Flat Rock this Saturday to tape the race card. The event will be aired Sunday night, April 27 on the local cable access channel of the Toledo-area Buckeye Cable System’s “Sunday Night at the Races” at 9 p.m. Fans outside the Toledo area can purchase the event on-demand by logging onto www.bcsn.tv.
A few projects have been completed in the short span of time due to weather issues. The ticket office windows have been replaced and minor maintenance projects are in the works. The concession stands will now feature computerized checkouts and the option to purchase items by credit card. Additional work is being planned as summer approaches, most of which will be geared to the race fan’s experience and enjoyment at the speedway.
On the track, Flat Rock’s action-packed, wheel to wheel excitement continues every Saturday night through mid-September. Pocket schedules will be available at the track and also may be obtained from dozens of area businesses in and around the Flat Rock area.
For this Saturday’s action, the pit area will open at 1, practice begins at 3, time trials are at 5:15 and racing starts at 7 p.m. Fans may walk into the grandstand and spectator hill to watch practice. The stands will then be cleared and tickets will go on sale at 4:30 p.m. Parking is FREE on the track grounds and concession prices are the best in Southeastern Michigan!
