Enviro Metals Street Stock Double Dash Race Recap

Enviro Metals Street Stock Double Dash Race Recap

An energetic crowd and cool spring weather set the stage for a spectacular night of short track racing as Flat Rock Speedway hosted its inaugural Enviro Metals Street Stock Double Dash, featuring twin 50-lap features for the DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock division.

The spotlight shined on the Street Stock division, where two 50-lap features brought historic victories and spectacular racing. In the first 50 lap dash, it was three cars under a blanket with Ron Allen holding off a hard charging Greg Studt on his outside and Johnny Rangel trying to get underneath him. However, Ron was racing for a big moment and a historic win as he was able to claim is 150th ARCA sanctioned short track victory of his career.

In the second 50-lap dash, an inversion of 8 shuffled the running order and that’s where the new Double Dash shined. With the DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks being one of the most competitive divisions in the region, it would be a true undertaking for a driver to save their car to run a consecutive 50-lap feature and pass two-time defending street stock champion Kenyon Knight on the outside. That is exactly what Johnny Rangel did to claim his first career feature win and he could not have done it on a better stage or a better night of racing.

Both Allen and Rangel got to take home important wins in their career on Saturday night in different ways.

The Figure 8s delivered their usual brand of edge-of-your-seat excitement. With Billy Earley on a bit of a hot streak in 2025, taking home the victory.

Leg 2 of 5 in the Churchill Transport Factory Stock 500 Series was another entertaining race, where Rayce Metdepenningen battled with Derrick Sheppard for the entirety of the feature but was able to hold off the persistent Sheppard.

A truly unique and historic night at the Flat Rock Speedway has fans and drivers alike excited for what is yet to come for the rest of the 2025 season and the excitement is sure to continue this Friday for Martin Tire and Big #1 Auto Sales Kids Night! We will be giving away 50 kids bikes, so make sure to come to the track to see the action and potentially walk home with a bike.
