PIT BOX: East Series title battle takes form as Flat Rock Speedway arrives on the schedule

The ARCA Menards Series East is staying close to home this weekend with a visit to the historic Flat Rock Speedway in Flat Rock, Michigan.

When the national ARCA Menards Series was founded in 1953, Flat Rock was one of the first tracks to host events for the startup division. Julian Petty swept a doubleheader at Flat Rock on Sept. 11, 1953, kicking off a proud tradition between the facility and the ARCA Menards Series that persisted up until 2000.

Even after the main series stopped racing at Flat Rock, numerous ARCA-sanctioned events continued to take place there during the 21st century like the prestigious Joy Fair Memorial. In 2023, ARCA Menards Series officials brought a touring division back to Flat Rock with the inaugural East Series event at the facility.

Rising stars like William Sawalich and Connor Zilisch have stamped their own legacy on Flat Rock’s history that has featured winners like Bob Dotter, Bill Venturini, Bobby Bowsher, Tim Steele and Frank Kimmel. Another name is set to join that group of legends in Flat Rock’s record books when the checkered flag waves Saturday night.

Tickets to the Dutch Boy 150 can be purchased here. Below is everything to know ahead of the final ARCA Menards Series East standalone event of the 2025 season.

As has become normal in the ARCA Menards Series East, everyone in the field at Flat Rock Speedway will be chasing the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota on Saturday evening.

During the past four seasons, the driver piloting the No. 18 has earned an East Series championship, whether than has been with Gibbs or Kyle Busch Motorsports. Max Reaves has maintained the winning culture fostered by Gibbs, having earned dominant wins in each of his two appearances this year.

Since he did not compete at Rockingham Speedway, Reaves does not enter the Dutch Boy 150 as the East Series points leader. Isaac Kitzmiller, the son of full-time ARCA Menards Series competitor Jason Kitzmiller, holds that distinction with an 11-point advantage over Zachary Tinkle.

Fresh off a career-best fourth at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, the younger Kitzmiller seeks to keep the momentum going at Flat Rock. With Reaves still within striking distance despite missing a race, consistency will be imperative from Kitzmiller heading into a streak of East Series combination events with the national ARCA Menards Series.

The complete entry list for the Dutch Boy 150 will be released later this week.
