Motor City Madness Delivered Thrills and Emotional Comebacks

Flat Rock, MI - The Public Service Credit Union Motor City Madness lived up to its name this past Saturday. The R&M Recycling Figure 8 division had their biggest race of the season which was won by veteran driver Billy Earley, now is second Motor City Madness Figure 8 win in a row. Once Earley took the lead, he never looked back winning in dominant fashion. In his post race interview he mentioned that the trophy will look good next to his Sylvan Studio creation from last season.

The Moran Chevrolet Outlaw Super Late Model Feature had the feel good moment of the night when Eric Lee won his first race back at Flat Rock Speedway after his father, Steve Lee passed away in March of 2024. Eric took the 2024 season off but showed on Saturday that he picked up where he left off. Lee’s comeback win resonated throughout the pit area and grandstands, a reminder of the strength and spirit of racing families. Eric was accompanied by his crew and his mother in victory lane after an emotional win.

The DTS Drive Train Specialists feature was won by veteran driver Ron Allen. It was a competitive feature where Ron Allen had to hold off the likes of Greg Studt, who won last week at USA Insulation Opening Day and a hard charging Johnny Rangel. However, Ron highlighted his car placement and control and managed to secure is 149th ARCA sanctioned short track feature win. Allen mentioned how there is added pressure now when he shows up to Flat Rock or Toledo Speedway to hit the 150 feature win mark.

Flat Rock Speedway also wants to thank the Michigan Auto Racing Fan club for showing up in force on Saturday afternoon. Their visit was highlighted by a racing bag giveaway, which RJ Cornett was selected for. Be sure to swing by and say hello to the Michigan Auto Racing Fan club on June 7th when they visit the Toledo Speedway for the All American Coach Open Wheel Special presented by Monroe Asphalt.
