Paul Pelletier became the first two-time winner this season in the OSLMs. The streak ends with six drivers, Eric Lee won the 2022 season championship, then in 2023: Justin Claucherty, Chris Benson, Brian Bergakker, Stan Yee Jr, Paul Pelletier.

The theme for 2023 is first time winners (and drivers winning again after many years), had one the last three weeks in one of the divisions running at Flat Rock. This week Doug Litogot joined the first-time winner club, winning his first Street Stock A division feature. “I’d like to thank my mom, dad, grandpa and Dan Leppen. I was riding in thir when the caution came out and got an opening a few laps after the restart. I was able to get by Regan (Ford) and hold him off for the last few laps. It was fun racing with

those guys and getting the first win felt good. I want to thank my sponsors Elliott Electric, Hoppers Heavy Haul, One Stop Speed Shop Automotive Supply, Grumpys Fabrication and Mark's Toy Box.”

Dennis Whisman Jr’s won the most Figure 8 features this season. His fourth win of the year came in the Figure 8’s 50-lap feature. “Yes, this is my longest races I’ve won. In 2016, we had a 50 lapper and I led 36 laps of it but ended up tangling with a lapped car. We’ve had a good car all year thanks to my dad. Richie Lee. Uncle Joe, Jeff, My wife Madison and my mom. I want to thank my sponsors. Royal Truck and Trailer, Counting Consultants, Marks Toy Box, Martins Tire, Rebel Racing, Custom Graphixs, Kentucky Clutch, Affordable Transmission. We have another 50-lapper on championship night. Hoping the car has the same energy then. I’m sure it will.”

Congratulations to Ron Allen who won the Late Model Sportsman feature. If my counts are correct, it’s his sixth win at Flat Rock in the Sportsman division. Then the next week at Toledo he took his 75th win at Toledo in the Sportsman division.

Ron’s 75th win came with one of the worse accidents at Toledo in several years. LMSP driver, Jim Brazeau’s car crashed and got caught in the catch fence in turn 4. Here’s the video if you’d like to see the race, www.youtube.com/watch?v=4e6sc0Yk1PY&t=6s

Congrats to Brad Turner for winning his first career Factory Stock feature. Earlier in the season he took his first career Enduro win too. “I’d like to thank my sponsors Bluestreak in Ida MI and Zorns Service in Ida MI. It's been a long time coming with winning in FS been trying since 2008. Figured out some things on the car and it brought be a win this year in 2023.”

Winning his third career Figure 8 feature was Brice Thomsen.

**** Stan Yee 500 **** July 22 ****

Craig Everage won his sixth career ARCA OLSM feature. It was his first win of any of the long-distance races at Flat Rock (100 and 150 lap races). He broke Brian Bergakker’s streak of seven wins in the 100 and 150. “Yes, first off, I would like to thank God and all your fans for coming tonight and for the Stan Yee family. This is the biggest race of the year every year and a thank you to my crew, they never give up. We fought that car all day. And it wasn't that good, but the late cautions really helped it (and) starting on the bottom helped too, because it (the car) couldn't go outside. Anyways, I would like to give that win, that trophy to Steve Lee. He's a great friend of mine. Hopefully we can all pray for him, and he gets better and do this again next year. I have myself, and a good crew. But money wise, it’s EverageAuto.com … it's mainly my wife's money and my kids. Mike Kuhn helped me out the shop. We had to change a fuel cell last night. We went to Lane Automotive yesterday at 4:30 because my fuel cell was leaking. Fought it all day, brought the wrong rims, we loaded late, didn't practice too good. And that car was not that good. I just saved my stuff and ran around the bottom.”

Eric Lee, finished second. “Yeah, that was close. We were good, raced up front, All that lapped traffic was tough and Justin (Schroeder), he was struggling, and it was either me spin myself out or just rub him a little bit. He got spun out, so I took the blame and went to the rear and things just kind of started working out. We worked our way back up front … thing (the car) was a rocket. I think we had another few laps< we would’ve got Craig (Everage). But hats off to Craig, great guy, I'm happy for him to get the win. I just got to thank my crew. My dad. It’s great to have my dad back at the track, it's been a while, so it's really nice having him back. I want to thank my sponsors Lee Motorsports Inc. and Action Drywall.”

Eric’s Dad Steve addressed the crowd. “I just want to thank all the fans, Many of you know, last month I was in the hospital and had a tough time, and a lot of you fans sent prayers, and people that called me,

and got me going back here, I'm back at the track and I'm feeling great. And I think I'm gonna be around here for a while. So, I just really appreciate your thoughts, all your prayers, everything.”

Conner Zbozien, finished third. “I really want to thank sponsors Moran Automotive, McQuade Heating and Cooling, PPG, Painter’s Supply and Equipment, JV Auto, The Pleasure Zone, Michigan Independent Door Co. Without these guys it's just undoable. I really think I had something on the outside, if I got there on a restart. We this thing was rolling the outside really good. I knew that from the start just save the car a little bit, make sure its tires are still on it at the end. It always really works for me saving the car to the end, maybe drop (back) a couple (cars). I know I got a freight train pretty far back this time but is able to come back with the cautions.”

Fourth place finisher Justin Schroeder, who is sponsored by Fairway Disposal, JMS Transport said, “Yeah, it was good. We've been working on this thing, and we tested 10 hours last week. Put a lot of effort into it, a lot changes today and it was good. I just decided to push a little too hard there when Eric got into me. I really appreciate him tapping out. We were having a tough time with lap cars. Appreciate that. And then just burned right front up and just good hold it down. These guys save a little bit more than me. It's what stinks about starting up front, you can’t pace yourself because you don't want to let them go. But you know it's been so long since I finished one of these races on the right end of the stick so you won’t see happier guy for fourth place.”

Brian Bergakker, fifth place, after starting last because of a technical infraction in tech after qualifying. He went to rear two more times after being involved in a couple cautions. As near as I can figure he passed about 35 cars during the course of the 150 laps. Today’s race broke a streak of seven races in a row that he had won. The last time he had something other than a win was May 2019 (he finished sixth and if I remember he had to go to the back because of a caution that time too). “Yeah, we don't we don't give up. I had a target on my back when we got here today. Right after qualifying, then the race. I gotta thank my crew. My sponsors. 4J's Trucking, Earnest Performance, Senneker Performance, MI Marking, Sweet Manufacturing, Powrachute, A&D Designs. We worked really hard today. We had the car to beat, I feel, and we just didn't get a call to go our way or anything, you know, or luck to go our way today. So here we are. It’s been an awesome last few years, right. I mean the streak’s got to come to an end at some point and it was today was it. We were hoping to keep carrying it, you know, we're working really hard on this thing. If this is what happens, you’re have good nights and bad nights, so we just had a bad run.

Jeremy Vanderhoof competed in all three divisions tonight. As far as I can remember (if I’m wrong, drop me a note on Facebook messenger or ddomby@juno.com), he’s the only driver to do this. We’ve had a lot of drivers do two divisions in a night, but I can’t remember doing three. He drove the car Austin Theil has driven in the Outlaw Late Models, finishing eighth on the lead lap. It was his first OSLM race since 2009 and his second-best finish (he had a seventh). In the Street Stock A division, where he’s the defending division champion (and leading points this season), he finished 14th. In the Figure 8 division where he’s the point’s leader, he finished 4th.

Max Fair drove his father Harold’s OSLM again and finished sixth his best OSLM finish at Flat Rock. He finished 16th in the Joy Fair 100 earlier in the year.

Jim Bailey made his first start at Flat Rock since 2014 but dropped out and finished 19th. The other driver that dropped out were: Chris Benson, Justin Claucherty, Scott Pemberton, Joe Hawes and Joshua Spindelman.

Greg Studt won the A main, "It's like old times. The car was running good on the outside tonight. It's been hit and miss for most of the year. The car's been running good. I want to thank all the guys that helped me. You know my dad does a ton of work, Jimmy Clark is here each and every week for the last 30 plus years. My son Danny, Jack L and now all these guys come out and support me every week. Guys I want you to know what I appreciate it. Been starting back there. It's kind of rough but there was a lot of cautions, (I) got some good restarts. And you know, the 19 (Kenyon Knight) was just running perfect line there. And you know, I figured once I got back to when you pick it up, and usually how it goes, but I got lucky enough to get him at the line. He'd have been tough to clear and drop in front of."

"Oh man, I don't even know what to say guys. It's my rookie year. It's a 30-year dream come true, to get in this car. I grew up and like these kids sitting her in these very stands. I want to thank Steve Bunge, Lori Bunge, Scot Bunge. The last few years I've been a track official here at Flat Rock. We got our shot here with Steve to make my dream possible with a strong car. And here I am. I want to thank everyone, my family, my wife, my kids, my sister came, and my nephew came. You can see on my car, I just put a sticker on there for my grandfather, World War Two veteran, he's 100 years old. Thanks!

Travis Early won his second career Figure 8 feature. “It felt great finally getting a win since 2018. So far this year we have been struggling with a few major and a lot of minor issues with the car just trying to get it dialed back in to where it was when it was pulled from the track. We came out last year towards the end of the season to just play around and get seat time this year we came back with the thought of doing the best we can as in seeing where we can end up in points. I have a great crew and a great family that puts in a lot of time with me on the car, Danny, my dad, my grandfather Gary/porkchop ,Joel , Big Randy ,Lil Randy, Nick, Brendan, Larry and my rooters Aunt Brenda, my Aunt Karen ,Aunt Melissa. I would also like to thank my other half Cheyenne and our two lil ones for allowing me to keep doing what I love. As everyone knows this hobby takes a lot of family time, would like to thank my sponsors Triple A Transport, A&M Transmission, Jim's Butcher Shop for all the support, we finally broke the ice and plan on to get more and to do the best we can.

Did I miss your win, or did you have a career best finish. You can send me things through FaceBook Messenger www.facebook.com/icechips or icechips@hotmail.com.
