Flat Rock Speedway

Flat Rock, MI—August 5, 2022:  Eric Lee, Greg Studt, Bob Stewart and Matt Kemp captured feature wins at the Friday Night Special at Flat Rock Speedway.  Super fans Max and Karen Scott served as the trophy sponsors for the night and presented the hardware to the victors in the Monroe Asphalt Winner’s Circle.

Lee was victorious in the 50 lap ARCA Moran Chevrolet Outlaw Super Late Model feature, leading all 50 laps in the all-green flag contest.  Conner Zbozien, Chris Benson, Paul Pelletier, Dennis Strickland, Joe Hawes, Stan Yee Jr., Steve Hawes, George Rangel and Derrick Sheppard completed the top 10.  Zbozien set fast time at 11:856.  Heat race winners were Pelletier and Austin Thiel.

Greg Studt took advantage of the 3-car inversion by roll of the dice plus 2, putting him on the pole.  Studt took off on the green and had plenty of pressure from Jeremy Vanderhoof, Ron Allen and fast qualifier Steve Cronenwett Jr. (13.348).  Each took a shot at the leader to take the top spot, but Studt held strong.  Allen suffered a flat tire on lap 14, bringing out the only yellow flag of the event.  Greg rolled on to the win in the 25 lap ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock A Main over Vanderhoof, Cronenwett Jr., Doug Litogot, Rob Moore Jr., Johnny Rangel, Kenyon Knight, Collin Barron, Landon Schuster and Jeremy Cronenwett. 

Bob Stewart topped Mike Miller and Rich Abel to win the 15 lap Street Stock B Main contest.  For Street Stock Retro Night, the class ran a 4 car, 4 lap dash for the A Main, with Vanderhoof taking the win.  The B Main dash went to Abel.  In place of the heat races, a pair of Australian pursuits were contested.  Knight and Troy Brehmer took those wins.  B Main fast time went to Abel at 14:525.

Sawyer, MI resident Matt Kemp made the 3 hour trip to Flat Rock and grabbed the win in the 25 lap feature event for the visiting MCR Dwarf Cars, making it 2 for 2 at Flat Rock this season.  Kemp took the lead on lap 16 from Cei Bowen and sailed to the victory.  Bowen, Dave Wylie, Zack Nichols, Troy Hoffman, Eric Hoffman, Vaughn Chambless, Ed Laroe, Matt Biessel, Jon Wylie and Brandon Collins were next in line at the finish.  Nichols and Biessel took the heat wins.

Racing goes back to Saturdays August 13 as just 3 point nights remain to determine the 2022 track champions.  Saturday, August 13 is the popular Autograph Night!  Fans can walk onto the track and meet the drivers prior to the start of the racing action.

Practice begins at 4:30 for the cars, while the front gates and ticket office also open at that time.  The on-track autograph session starts at 6 and racing begins at 7 p.m. 

There is no advance ticket sale for this event.  ALL tickets go on sale race day at the track at 4:30 p.m.
