JACK WYMAN NAMED GRAND MARSHAL FOR FLAT ROCK 70TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT JULY 9

Long-time ARCA, Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway official Jack Wyman has been named the Grand Marshal for the Royal Truck and Trailer Sales Flat Rock Speedway 70th Anniversary event, scheduled for Saturday, July 9.  Four divisions of racing will hit the track, with the evening concluding with the largest fireworks show ever at the ¼ mile paved oval.

On August 14, 1953, Flat Rock Speedway held its first race.  Wyman and a couple of his friends, who owned a race car and ran at the Monroe County Fairgrounds, took their car to Flat Rock for that event.  And several years later, Wyman went to work for the late John Marcum, the promoter of Flat Rock.  Jack was the pit registrar throughout the 1960’s, 1970’s and much of the 1980’s, greeting every driver, car owner and crewman that raced at the track.  EVERYONE knew Jack Wyman.

And it is only fitting that Wyman, who lives in nearby Carleton, MI will serve as the Grand Marshal for this historic night at the ¼ mile paved oval.  From day 1, Jack Wyman has been at Flat Rock Speedway in some capacity.

The track’s three mainstays of racing since 1977, the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Outlaw Super Late Models, the R & M Recycling Figure 8’s, the DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks, will be joined by the ARCA Salenbien Excavating Late Model Sportsman division for the July 9 race card, which will consist of features-only for this night.

To cap off the night, race fans and teams will witness the largest fireworks show in the history of the speedway, sponsored by the Monroe Superstore.  “The fireworks show will be more than doubled in size from our previous Fireworks shows,” said Drager, Owner and Promoter.  “This is a great way to cap off a very entertaining, exciting and historic night for Flat Rock Speedway.

The track will also hold its Annual Racers Reunion.  Many former drivers are expected to attend the July 9 festivities.

Race time is set for 7 p.m.
