VANDERHOOF-PAPINEAU-KELLEY JR.-REMICK CAPTURE FLAT ROCK WINS

June 4, 2022:  The final Saturday afternoon race of the 2022 season at Flat Rock Speedway saw the re-scheduled R & M Recycling Kids Day.  Kids to age 12 were admitted free and received a hot dog.  The annual UAW Local 3000 outing also took place.  A Kids Power Wheels Derby was held prior to the start of the racing program.  The track now switches to night racing for the remainder of the season.

With the top ten qualifiers drawing for their starting position, Jeremy Vanderhoof led the field to the green flag and led every lap on his way to the victory in the 25 lap ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock A Main.  Johnny Rangel, Scott Selmi, Landon Schuster, Corey Duane, Ron Allen, Jeff Metdepenningen, Greg Studt, Rob Moore Jr. and Doug Litogot completed the top ten finishers in the ultra-competitive division.

Taylor Papineau edged out Mike Miller, Robert Stewart, Chuck Pankow, Rich Abel and George Burgess, notching his third win in the 15 lap DTS Street Stock B Main.

Moore Jr. posted fast time for the 27-car field at 13:202.  Pankow led the B field at 14:117.  Metdepenningen, Rob Randa, Trevor Farmer and Miller took the heat race wins.

The ARCA Salenbien Excavating Late Model Sportsman division made their first of 3 trips to Flat Rock this season, with Toledo resident and veteran racer Howard Kelley Jr. taking the win in the 25 lap feature over Jim Froling, Kyle Worley, Todd Perkins, Greg Studt, Craig Lange, Jeremy Vanderhoof, Andy Harding and Dan Grigsby.  Froling set the fast time at 13:129.

Race number 1 of The Vault ARCA Enduro Series was contested Saturday afternoon, with Robb Remick topping Troy Brehmer for the win in the 250 lap contest.  The top 2 finished on the lead lap.  Nathan Sprotberry was third, Cody Remick was fourth and Derrick Sheppard fifth, followed by Brad Turner, Justin Chamberlin, Kyle Metdepenningen, Dale Buttrey and Rayce Metdepenningen.  Brehmer set fast time at 14:817.  The next Enduro is scheduled for June 25.

Night racing begins Saturday, June 11 with the Dunwell Dry Goods School Bus Figure 8 race!  The ARCA Moran Chevrolet Outlaw Super Late Models, R & M Recycling Figure 8’s, a Flag Pole Race and a Figure 8 boat race are on the race card, with the School Bus Figure 8 serving as the finale’ of the night of fun and entertainment.

Both reserved and general admission tickets are now on sale.  Reserved seating is available by calling the track Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 734-782-2480.  Fans may also stop into the track office during those times

GENERAL ADMISSION tickets (first-come, first serve seating) are also available by phone or in person at the track.  A third option for general admission is an online sale---for general admission tickets ONLY.  Go to www.flatrockspeedway.com, go to the right side margin, scroll down to the ticket button and go to the race date.  Online tickets are $1 extra per ticket.

Race day, Saturday, June 11 will see the front gates and ticket office opening at 4:30 p.m.  Race car practice and qualifying begin at 5:30 and show time is 7 p.m.

A rain date of Sunday, June 12 at 6 p.m. has been established if needed.
