FLAT ROCK/TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BULLETIN-FEBRUARY 24, 2022

Photo-1958 "Old Model" division at Flat Rock Speedway

We hope this finds everyone safe and healthy.  Updated schedules are posted on both web pages..we will continue to add sponsors, promotions, etc.  The 2022 pocket schedules are expected to be ready the first week of April.

TIRES:  We continue to communicate with Hoosier and met with them at the RPM Workshops last week.  The outlook is the same as the second part of 2021…inventory issues are projected to continue through the first half of the season.  Like everything else that you buy, there will be a cost increase.  With the volatile market and wild inflation, we will continue to stay in touch with Hoosier; we will have pricing and availability announcements as soon as we receive our first delivery.

With that information, please keep in mind our goal is to run our schedules as posted.  We may have to adjust the schedule, move divisions around, move a race here or there…

REMINDER:  All divisions-Helmet dating moves to Snell 2015 rating or newer.  Enduro drivers will now be required to have working scanner or raceceiver for next season.

SAVE OUR RACE TEAMS:  At the workshops, this information was brought forward:  a little-known piece of legislation states:  Any vehicle with a VIN number cannot be modified.  This would be a crippling blow to many short track divisions, drag racing, motorcycle racing, pretty much racing in general.  Reach out to your representatives in Washington!  Go to www.saveourraceteams.com to get the complete story.  You can also go to www.sema.org for more information.

JUST ANNOUNCED—RACER REUNION RETURNS!  After a several year absence, the Racer Reunion at the Toledo Speedway Bar and Grille returns Saturday afternoon, April 9.  The Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club will also hold its monthly meeting after the reunion.  Thousands of photos, memorabilia, etc. and plenty of bench racing from drivers, owners and crew members of the past and present make for a great day!  Times, more details will be announced next week.

1099’s:  have been sent out.  Call Scott if you have an issue; 734-782-2480 or 419-727-1100.

The 2022 W9 form has been posted under the Racer Info. tab.  Get your paperwork done early and avoid standing in line on practice day or race day.  The membership forms are also in that same location.  *Remember that your membership form must be signed in handwriting. NO increase in membership costs for 2022.  *There is now a separate document for a Minor’s license app; it includes the minor’s release and waiver also in that document.  Please be sure to fill out the entire application.

FLAT ROCK PAD RENTALS:  The pad rental forms is now available under the Racer Info. tab.  Fee remains the same.  First-come, first-serve.  Get a FREE pit pass to a practice day if you buy before April 1!

CAR NUMBERS:  If you are new to our tracks, or are changing divisions or looking at changing numbers, give Scott a call at 734-782-2480 or 419-727-1100.

Welcome to Salenbien Excavating of Dundee, MI as the new title sponsor of the ARCA Late Model Sportsman class.  Our thanks to Andy Salenbien and his family for their support.  We look forward to introducing Andy and his staff to all of you as the new season approaches!

The Glass City 200 has a new title sponsor for 2022!  Clean Harbors/Safety Kleen has signed on for the track’s signature race; they will also sponsor the Sunday afternoon, May 22 race at Toledo, which is Kids Day/Autograph Day.  Thank you to Gregg Oberle and the management team for their sponsorship!

R & M Recycling will serve as the title sponsor of the Figure 8 division for the 2022 season!  Our thanks to Mike Rogers Sr. and Jr. for their continued support of our race teams and the 2 tracks…

FiveStar Race Car Bodies has renewed their contingency programs for both the Street Stock and Late Model Sportsman divisions!

We welcome back Moran Chevrolet as the Flat Rock Outlaw Super Late Model class title sponsor!  Thank you to Pat Moran and his group for their continued support!

Claude Plante Jr. of DTS Drive Train Specialists also returns at the Street Stock division title sponsor for 2022. DTS will also back the Joy Fair Memorial and is a presenting sponsor of the Glass City 200.  Thank you, Claude!

Steve Peters and Innovative Fluids, LLC. also returns with the bonus feature win money for each class again next season.  And Corrigan Race Fuels will once again sponsor the Street Stock 100 and continue as the Flat Rock Sunoco race fuel supplier.  Bazell Race Fuels returns as a sponsor and the Sunoco fuel supplier for Toledo.  Thank you, Brian Bazell.

REMINDER:  All divisions-Helmet dating moves to Snell 2015 rating or newer.  Enduro drivers will now be required to have working scanner or raceceiver for next season.

ALL DIVISIONS--NOISE LIMITS:  The decibel reading for all classes is maximum 100 db at each track.  We have been talking about this in the past….those are your family members in the pits and grandstands.  We will be checking levels….first offense, fix it for next race; second offense--you start scratch in all your events that night; third offense--cannot race.  Working mufflers required…take a look NOW at your exhaust and quiet your cars down. You all know how to fix this issue…..

ENDURO RECORDS:  During the off-season, we have been able to gather Enduro 250 race winners.  The first Enduro race was in 1984.  The late Ray Barnard was the winner!  We are, however, missing records for 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992.  We believe they were destroyed in the fire at the ARCA office several years ago.  If you can help us, please give Scott a call.

SOUVENIR PROGRAM ADS:  We have just a few spots open in the Souvenir program for ads.  Deadline is March 15.  If interested, please call Scott.  We also have some signage inventory open at both tracks…

There has been an increasing amount of health issues and the passing of several of our fellow race team members, officials, fans and many of your personal family over the winter months and during the pandemic.  We will continue to respect the privacy of the families and only report information when the family contacts us to do so.  Please keep all of them in your thoughts and prayers……

Next bulletin will be posted around March 20-25……….
