HOCEVAR CAPTURES VANDOORN 125 AT FLAT ROCK

Flat Rock, MI—June 19, 2021:    Carson Hocevar scored the victory in the VanDoorn Racing Development 125 lap feature for the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by Jeg’s Late Models Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway.  Butch and John VanDoorn presented the 5-foot trophy to the winner in the Monroe Asphalt Winner’s Circle.

Carson Lucas took the win in the CRA Jr. Late Model race, while Greg Studt took win #3 in the 25 lap ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock feature race in a quick racing card that was completed in just over 2 hours.

Scotty Tomasik took the lead on the start of the 125 lap feature, but Hocevar was on the move from the green flag.  Carson, who made the trip to Flat Rock from the NASCAR Truck race in Nashville, TN Friday night, zipped into the lead on lap 14 and stayed in command the rest of the way.  Only 1 yellow appeared, at the lap 28 mark, allowing Hocevar and runner-up Hunter Jack to build a gap over their fellow competitors.  At lap 50, the top 5 were Hocevar, Jack, fast qualifier Kyle Crump, Tomasik and Eric Lee.  Lee charged up, using both the second and third lanes in a great run as he picked off several cars to continue to move up in the running order.  Eric kept the car in those lanes for a duration of the event.  As the laps wound down, local youngster Ethan Stadniczuk began to make his run, following Lee in the high groove and then used the inside lane to continue his move into the top 5, capping off a great run.  At the finish, it was Hocevar, Jack, Crump, Tomasik and Stadniczuk, with Lee sixth, Jimmy Tucker seventh, Mike Simko eighth, Kevin Cremonisi ninth and Jeff Vrsek tenth.

Greg Studt made a slick move on the first lap of the 25 lap ARCA DTS Drive Specialists Street Stock A Main, diving to the bottom out of turn 4 to snare the top spot to score his 3rd win of the season.  The event, which went with a yellow flag, saw a quick pace.  Jeff Metdepenningen followed Studt on that first lap to move into second and settled for that runner-up spot.  Max Fair moved up in the late stages of the race and cut the gap on the lead duo but ran out of laps in third spot, fourth was Nick Shanks and fifth went to Trevor Farmer, followed by Clarity Patton, Johnny Rangel, Jeremy Vanderhoof, Doug Litogot and Rob Moore Sr.  Metdepenningen set fast time at 13:455.  Heat race winners were Vanderhoof, Lonnie York and Farmer.
