MARCH, 2021 FLAT ROCK/TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BULLETIN (3-6-21)

MARCH, 2021 FLAT ROCK/TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BULLETIN (3-6-21)

Tuesday, March 2, the State of Michigan announced that outdoor venues can have a maximum capacity of 1,000; the State of Ohio and the Lucas County Health Department have announced a 30% capacity limit for outdoor venues.  We are now, at this point, ready to open up both tracks for racing this season!

With limits on the grandstands, the gate from the pits to the grandstands at both tracks be locked.  If we can adjust this, we certainly will.  We did this at Toledo last season.

We ask that everyone keeps in mind that the schedules are tentative based on the restrictions from both the states of Michigan and Ohio and the local health departments that may be in place at that time.  We will follow the orders set forth and remain in compliance at both venues.  We are hopeful that these restrictions will be eased even more as the vaccine program makes progress.

REGISTRATION/INSPECTION/TIRE SALES/FUEL SALES/PAD RENTAL DAY AT FLAT ROCK!  This is new for 2021:  Saturday, April 10, we will be at the track, so you can get ready for the season.  Time will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Show up and get things done ahead of time…get your car through tech and you will be first out on the track for practice day!  Take care of these things on this day!  It will be held rain or shine.

The first practices of the season at Flat Rock are Saturday, April 17 and Saturday, April 24.  The first race is scheduled for Saturday, May 1.  The first 3 Saturday races at Flat Rock-May 1, May 8 and May 15-all have a start time of 4 p.m.  PLEASE MAKE A NOTE OF THIS—again, new for 2021.

Toledo:  First practice is Wednesday, May 12, and the first race is Sunday afternoon, May 16.  School Bus Figure 8 race, plus Late Model Sportsman, Factory Stocks and a Boat Figure 8 race.

TRACK RENTALS:  We are still in negotiations for an ambulance firm to work with at both tracks.  We’ll make this short; the firm we were using went out of business, the number of ambulance companies has dwindled, and the quotes we are getting are nearly DOUBLE….so, we are trying to work on this issue as we speak.  It does pose a problem for track rentals…we will race and have practice days, we just need to keep working on this…stay tuned.

TIME SCHEDULES FOR 2021:  Flat Rock, Saturdays May 1, 8 and 15:  Pits open at 12:30, practice at 2, racing at 4.  First practice session-10 laps; second session is your qualifying session also.  6 laps.  When we go to night racing for weekly shows:  Pits open at 3:30, practice at 5, race at 7.  Special events will have different opening times and some additional practice time.  We may open the pits a bit earlier for the first week or 2…we’ll let you know.

Toledo:  Sunday, May 16:  Pits open at 10 a.m., practice at Noon, racing at 2.  Times for the other events will be announced prior to each event.

ADVANCE INDIVIDUAL TICKET SALES:  For the 2 bus races at Flat Rock, tickets will go on sale 30 days prior to the two (2) School Bus Figure 8 races (July 3, September 4).  For Toledo, each event will follow this same format; tickets go on sale 30 days prior to each event. ALL tickets for each Toledo race are general admission only.

Flat Rock “weekly” show are $15 for adults, children 6-12 are $5 and 5 and under are free.  Special event pricing will be announced soon.  Toledo pricing will also be announced soon.

2021 Rules:  2021 rule book is now posted, located under Racer Info. tab.  There is only 1 change from 2020, and that is for the Late Models:  The 30-degree angle measurement for the C pillar will be eliminated.

**JUST A REMINDER as noted in the 2020 rule changes; quiet your car down!  DECIBEL LIMIT IS 97 DB….quiet your cars down!  Your family members and friends, and our fans, are up in the stands..think about that.  And now in effect for 2021…..
