EVERAGE, SELMI, DUFFIN, STUDT FLAT ROCK WINNERS; CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT NEXT!

Flat Rock, MI—August 17, 2019: A very warm and humid evening greeted fans and teams for Flat Rock Speedway’s Saturday night race card.   Craig Everage won the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Model feature, Scott Selmi rode the high lane to victory in the ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock A Main, Paul Duffin took top honors in the Street Stock B Main and Greg Studt grabbed the ARCA Victory Lane Quick Oil Change Figure 8 feature race. All winners visited the Monroe Asphalt Winner’s Circle.

The first 45 laps of the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Model feature were all green flag. Jeff Vrsek jumped into the lead until Eric Lee worked the outside groove and got by Jeff to take the top spot. Eric built up a big lead until the yellow at lap 45, bunching the field. Prior to the yellow, Craig Everage, who started 10th, began to move up through the pack, also using the high groove. Everage got to second before the yellow, setting up the restart and a chance to battle Lee for the lead. On that restart, Eric looped his machine, scattering the field. The incident collected Stan Yee Jr., ending his night, along with Lee’s effort for a win. A pair of yellows slowed things again and the third try allowed the final 4 laps to play out, as Everage took the checkered flag. Rookie Hayden Sprague recorded his best finish of the season in second, Justin Schroeder was third, rookie Connor Zbozien grabbed fourth in his best finish and Frank Jiovani was fifth. Joe Hawes, Paul Pelletier, Chris Benson, Vrsek, Lee, Yee Jr., Steve Hawes and Steve Cronenwett Jr. were next in line at the finish. Zbozien set fast time at 11:896, with heat wins to Jiovani and Joe Hawes.

A great battle up front between 3 drivers highlighted the 25 lap ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock A Main. A yellow at lap 3 was the only delay in the event, with the final 22 laps all green, setting up intense competition. Pete Shrake was the early leader, as Ethan Stadniczuk challenged on the high side. The duo swapped the lead back and forth and Scott Selmi joined the pair in the fight for the top spot. Scott went up top even farther and got by Schrake in the final 5 laps to take his first win of the season. Ethan nosed out Pete for second, with fourth to Rob Randa and fifth to Rob Moore, followed by Greg Studt, Caleb Barron, Steve Searles, Tim Moore and David Liaeff.

Paul Duffin captured the 15 lap ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock B Main over L.J. Farmer, Ian Jezylo, Taylor Papineau, Jerry Farmer, Rich Abel, Adam Jezylo, Leroy Farmer and Chris Diovardi. Studt led the 30 car field in time trials with a lap of 13:390. Duffin topped the B field at 13:865. Selmi, Nick Shanks, Wilburn Parks and Ian Jezylo took the heat wins.

Studt, doing double duty Saturday night, battled Jakob Lee for over a dozen laps for the lead in the 20 lap ARCA Victory Lane Quick Oil Change Figure 8 contest. Ethen Lambert led the first 3 laps until Lee assumed control. Studt worked his way to the bumper of Lee as the duo diced back and forth for the number 1 spot. Greg looked high and low, got to the door of Jakob several times but Lee slammed the door. With 3 to go, Studt got inside Lee and the pair ran side by side, making contact entering turn 3 of the Figure 8 track. Lee spun, Studt moved on and grabbed the win. Lee recovered quickly and took second, Dennis Whisman made a big charge after falling back early to notch third, Dennis Whisman Jr. was fourth and Danny Gaddis, in his first start of the season, took fifth. Ethen Lambert, James Vanderhoof, Dave Lambert, James Pankow and Stephanie Bradley were next in the finishing order. Studt set quick time at 20:581, with Whisman Jr. and Ethen Lambert taking the heat races.

Joel Smith brought out his Bandolero car and ran laps for the fans, who greeted him with a nice ovation.
