Motor City 200 Packs Big Action in Historic Event

Rochester Hills, MI (Tuesday, April 24, 2019) - Short track racing at its best will be on display Sunday, April 28th during the Motor City 200 from Flat Rock Speedway in Flat Rock, Michigan. Motor City Racing Promotions welcome in the ICAR Strike Force Energy All-Star Modified Tour for 75 laps of open wheel action, the very first JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour 100 lap event and the inaugural 25 lap event for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Model Series. These three Tours will compete together for the first time at Flat Rock Speedway, making this event one of the most anticipated season openers in the Midwest.

The last time Flat Rock Speedway saw Modifieds on track, George W. Bush was serving his final term as U.S. President, “The Big Bang Theory” was getting set to premiere on CBS, Switzerland’s Roger Federer won his 4th consecutive US Open Men’s title and drivers of the CRA Junior Late Model Series were just being born.

In September of 2007, Eric Lee picked up the Modified feature win after setting quick time at a 12.691 second lap time, before leading wire-to-wire in the 50-lap main event. In their return, the ICAR Strike Force Energy Drink All-Star Modified Tour’s 2018 Champion, Kyle Purvis will look to start his title defense with a win.

As for Eric Lee, he’ll be looking to become the first ever driver to win with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour at Flat Rock Speedway. The former Flat Rock Speedway Outlaw Super Late Model winner has a victory with the JEGS Tour and looks to combine both success’ to pick up the win on Sunday.  Two-Time JEGS Tour Champion, Jack Dossey III, is perusing the ARCA/CRA Super Series title in 2019, which could open the door for a new Tour Champion. The likes of Brian Campbell, Carson Hocevar, Hunter Jack, Kyle Crump, Jimmy Tucker and many more begin their 2019 Pro Late Model season with the Motor City 200.

Perhaps one of the most anticipated events of the day is the first ever event for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Model Series. The new series will feature drivers age 10-15.  Over half a dozen drivers are on the entry list for the first event including, third generation racer, Katelyn Hettinger and accomplished Quarter Midget racer, Chase Burda.

An event practice day will take place on Saturday, April 27th with pit gates opening at 9:00 a.m. and practice from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Then on Sunday, pit gates open at 8:00 a.m. with on track action beginning with practice at 10:30 a.m., grandstands open at 12:00 p.m. with qualifying at 12:30 p.m. racing at 2:00 p.m.
