FLAT ROCK’S MORAN CHEVROLET-STAN YEE MEMORIAL 150 THIS SATURDAY

(Flat Rock, MI—July 17, 2018): Flat Rock Speedway’s biggest race of the season, the Moran Chevrolet-Stan Yee Memorial 150, is set for this Saturday night, July 21. The race is the 4th and final leg of the ARCA Late Model Gold Cup Series, as well as a point race for the track’s Moran Chevrolet Late Models. Flat Rock current point leader Jimmy Thiel is the defending race winner.

A field of 20 cars have already pre-entered for this annual classic, with more entries still expected. Yee was a championship car owner in the Late Model ranks for over 40 years. Stan passed away in 2008.

Fans can save $5 on advance tickets by calling the track at 734-782-2480. The advance sale ends Friday, July 20 at 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show. Children 6-12 are $3 each and under 6 are free.

In addition to Thiel, defending Gold Cup champ  and current Gold Cup point leader Frank Jiovani and former Gold Cup champions Steve Needles (2016), Dennis Strickland (2001, 2004, 2005 and 2011) and Mike Root (2009, 2010) are also entered. Former Flat Rock champions Justin Schroeder (2015, 2017), Stan Yee Jr. (2003), Paul Pelletier (2006, 2010, 2012 and 2016) and Joe Hawes (1991) have also entered the 150 lap event. Strickland is also a 2-time track champion at Flat Rock (2007, 2013), while Jiovani took the Street Stock title at “The Rock” in 2012.

Winners of the Yee Memorial race include Justin Schroeder (2008), Mike Luberda Jr. (2009), Mike Root (2010, 2012), Eric Lee (2011), Phil Bozell (2013), Harold Fair Jr. (2014), Jeff Ganus (2015), Dakota Carlson (2016) and Thiel in 2017.

The race will award $2633 to the winner and $533 to start the contest. The $33 increments are in honor of Stan’s famous car #33, now driven by his son, Stan Jr.

Bonus awards include lap money at $5 per lap, which is now available by calling the track at 734-782-2480 or the Toledo Speedway office at 419-727-1100.

Diamond Racing Products has posted a $333 bonus to the fast qualifier, which goes along with the $100 VanDoorn Racing Development Gold Cup Series fast time bonus AND the weekly Moran Chevrolet fast time $100 bonus, giving the top lap time a $533 cash award!

Moran Chevy will also award a set of tires to a driver that has pre-entered through a random draw, along with the weekly Moran Hard Charger (Most Improved) $50 bonus.

The 2018 Gold Cup Series sponsors include Moran Chevrolet, Diamond Racing Products, Royal Truck and Trailer Sales, DTS Drive Train Specialists, Dani’s Transport, Francis Engineering and HABCO Tool and Development.

Fastime Racing Engines and Parts will be awarding $250 to the crew chief of the Gold Cup champion driver at the track’s annual award banquet.

An optional practice session is set for Friday evening, July 20 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.   The pit area will open at 3:30. Admission to the grandstand Friday is free for spectators.

Race day on Saturday will see the pit area opening at 1:30, practice begins at 3:30 p.m. and the front gates will also open at that time. The track’s ARCA Victory Lane Quick Oil Change Figure 8’s will also be in action. Time trials begin at 5:45 and racing gets the green flag at 7 p.m.
