FLAT ROCK SET FOR DIAMOND RACING PRODUCTS/JOY FAIR MEMORIAL 100 SATURDAY

Flat Rock, MI—May 25, 2018: Take a look at this photo—talk about history….that’s “Big Bill” France in the background center with several drivers after one of the big races at Flat Rock Speedway, circa 1950’s! France, the founder of NASCAR, promoted several races at Flat Rock after it opened in 1953, including a 500 lap race!

And tomorrow night, Saturday, May 26, more history will be made as race teams and fans will gather at Flat Rock to pay honor to the late Joy Fair, the all-time win leader (159) and 10 time track champion, as the annual Diamond Racing Products Joy Fair Memorial 100 gets the green flag at 7 p.m. Fair passed away in 2011 at the age of 81.

The ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Model 100 lap contest is part of the ARCA Late Model Gold Cup Series. The rain date for the event is Sunday, May 27 at 6 p.m., if needed.

The ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock division will also compete on the May 26 race card in a “Retro Night” program, featuring 4 car dashes and the pursuit races in place of heat races. A Racer’s Reunion is also planned.

Saturday’s schedule will see the pit area opening at 1, with practice for the Late Models beginning at 3 p.m. Time trials are set for 5:30 and racing begins at 7 p.m.

And the drivers in the photo? Left to right, Ronnie Duman, Johnny Josa, Bob Wilding, Big Bill, Bert Tank, George Cooper and Dick Sparks.

The updated entry list and lap money sponsorship list is posted on the Flat Rock home page in the next race box.
