LATE MODEL, FIGURE 8 CHAMPS TO BE CROWNED SATURDAY AT FLAT ROCK

Flat Rock, MI—August 17, 2017: Justin Schroeder and Billy Earley have their sights set on a 2017 ARCA Flat Rock Speedway track title, and it all comes down to the Motor City Battery Season Championship race for the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models and Victory Lane Quick Oil Change Figure 8’s this Saturday night, August 19.

Schroeder will be looking for his second Moran Chevrolet Flat Rock Late Model championship to go along with the 2015 title he captured at the wheel of the #4 machine. Schroeder has had a stellar year, notching 5 wins in the 8 events contested in 2017 at the ¼ mile paved oval, giving him 11 career victories at the track. The Canton, MI driver has a 140 point lead over Stan Yee Jr. and can clinch things pretty much by starting the 50 lap finale’ of the season. Jimmy Thiel, Frankie Jiovani and Paul Pelletier round out the top 5 in the current points, with each also still having a mathematical shot at the crown.

Could it be 3-peat of championships for second-generation driver Billy Earley? Billy’s 140 point edge over Dennis Whisman puts him in the “driver’s seat” to accomplish that feat this Saturday night for the 2017 ARCA Victory Lane Quick Oil Change Figure 8 championship bout. Earley shared the title with Whisman in 2009 and captured the 2015 and 2016 crowns out-right. Billy has 3 feature wins to his credit in 2017, including the past 2 event wins. And more history can be made Saturday night by the driver of the #09…Billy is currently tied with his father, Gary, with 29 career wins at “The Rock”. His father serves as his car owner, and the car number was passed down to Billy when he began his career. Billy’s son and Gary’s grandson, Travis, is also a competitor in the Figure 8 class. Dan Apperson is tied with Whisman for second going into Saturday’s race. A pair of second-generation drivers sit 4th and 5th in the current points—Dennis Whisman Jr. and Scott Apperson, respectively.

The ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks will compete in a full race card this Saturday, with their championships, both for the A and B Main, set for August 26.

Practice begins at 4, time trials are at 5:30 and show time is 7 p.m. August 19. All tickets will go on sale race day at 4 p.m. There is no advance sale for this event.
