ED CASE NOTCHES CAREER FIRST WIN AT FLAT ROCK

ED CASE NOTCHES CAREER FIRST WIN AT FLAT ROCK

Flat Rock, MI –July 2, 2017: All the years of hard work and dedication paid off Sunday night at Flat Rock Speedway for Enduro veteran Ed Case. Ed took the lead just before the lap 100 mark and stayed in control to score his first-ever victory in the Monroe News 250 lap Enduro race at the Sunday night special at “The Rock” Eric Hoffman edged out his nephew Troy Hoffman to win the 20 lap MCR Dwarf Car feature, while Logan Haughton was the winner of the Bandolero feature race.

The 26 car starting field for the second Monroe News Enduro 250 of the year saw former champ Robb Remick take the lead at the start of the race. Defending champ Jimmy Tucker grabbed the top spot on lap 42 while the pack battled. A trio of red flags stopped the race in the early stages, but ran straight through after the lap 100 mark. At lap 100, the top 4 were nose to tail—Ed Case, Remick, Troy Brehmer and Kyle Metdepenningen.

As the laps wore on, just 3 cars remained on the lead lap-Case, Jeff Braun and Troy Brehmer. With heavy traffic in front of the leaders, things got a bit dicey as Case picked his way through the pack, while his challengers tried to catch him. In the end, a very exhausted Ed Case took the big win over Brehmer, Braun, Derrick Sheppard, Metdepenningen, Ethan Stadniczuk, Remick, Frank Trupiano, Paul Martell and Matt Ringger. 15 year-old Stadniczuk set fast time at 14:342.

The 20 lap MCR Dwarf Car feature ran 18 laps without a yellow, giving Eric Hoffman a shot at overtaking his nephew Troy Hofffman on the restart with 2 to go after a spin by Triston Francis. Eric, on the outside groove, stayed even with Troy and edged into the lead coming out of turn 2 on the final lap to grab the win. Troy Hoffman’s great run got him second spot, Joe McManman was third, Kim Hughes fourth and Jeff Slayton fifth, followed by Jon Wylie, Logan Weigle, Ed Laroe, Mike McManman Jr., Dave Brewster, Francis, Jimmie Ward Jr. and Josh Brand. Weigle and Mike McManman took the heat wins. Eric Hoffman posted the fast time for the group at 12:584.

In a preview for 2018, a total of 6 Bandolero cars that run at the Spartan, MI Speedway made the trip to Flat Rock for a 15 lap feature. The Bandoleros, purpose-built race cars for ages 8-14, will be added as a class at Flat Rock next year for a total of 8 races. Logan Haughton topped Jon Parish, Max Price, Mason Surgeoner, Bella Chan and Violet Townsend in the feature.

Saturday night action returns to Flat Rock July 8 with the popular Triple 50’s and Monroe Superstore Fireworks show! The features-only night of racing will see 50 lap main events for the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models, Victory Lane Quick Oil Change Figure 8’s and the DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks.
