GREG STUDT CAPTURES CORRIGAN RACE FUELS 100

Flat Rock, MI—June 10, 2017: Defending track champ Greg Studt scored the victory in Saturday night’s Corrigan Race Fuels 100 for the ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks at Flat Rock Speedway. Rich Abel, Jeremy Vanderhoof, Jaden Cretacci and Troy Brehmer also notched feature wins on a very warm summer evening. The UAW Local 3000 workers were on hand for the long night of entertainment.

The 100 lap contest began with an inversion of 10 cars, putting Scott Selmi and Craig Lange on the front row. Selmi nosed in front early on and led until lap 23, when Greg Studt moved by to take the lead, coming from his 9th starting spot. The yellow came out on that lap as Grant Hedges tapped Selmi, sending him around. Ray Morneau Jr., the current point leader, checked up to avoid the spin, and slipped up the track and tagged the turn 2 wall. Ray went pit-side for repairs as the field was reset. Selmi got his spot back as Hedges took the blame for the incident.

Rob Randa moved up from the 8th spot and stayed with Greg as that duo moved away from a battling pack of 6-8 cars for third. Rob slipped by Greg on lap 31 and took off, with Studt now in his tracks. The advantage was erased by a rash of yellow flags, bunching things up each time. At lap 50, the top 10 were Randa, Studt, Guy Fire, Lange, Rob Moore, a fast-closing Hedges, Kyle Worley, rookie Nick Sullivan, Jeff Metdepenningen and Morneau Jr.

As the laps wound down, Randa continued to stay in the number 1 spot, but Studt had his sights set on the lead. Guy Fire took a shot at grabbing the point on a re-start, but Studt looked to the high side with about 20 laps to go and got to the door of Rob at lap 80. The lead pair ran to door to door, which was a common sight for much of the race throughout the pack. With 15 to go, Greg zipped around Randa and sailed to the checkered flag. Morneau bounced back from his early problems and dove under Randa in the closing laps to take second, Randa’s great run for the night netted him third, with Fire’s consistent run bringing him home in fourth. Hedges ended up fifth, followed by Lange, Metdepenningen, rookie David Liaeff, Rob Moore and rookie Colin Barron, to complete the top 10. Jeff Luttermoser, Steve Searles, Rob Moore Jr., Sullivan, Nick Shanks, Arnold Kirsch, Worley, Selmi, Gary Calhoun and Aaron Greathouse rounded out the finishing order.

Several drivers took turns leading the Corrigan Race Fuels 25 lap Street Stock B Main, with current point leader Rich Abel holding off a late charge by Wilburn Parks to take the victory. Adam Jezylo led the first 2 laps, with James Pankow taking the point for 3 circuits. Abel then grabbed the lead, with Parks looking for a way around Rich as the race neared the end. Abel held on to win over Parks, Pankow, Chris Diovardi, James Baber, Alan Kennedy, Jerry Farmer, Jezylo, John Smolinski, Jeffrey Kurzyniec, Trevor Farmer, Brian Moore, Randy Roberts and Jesse Carillo.

Morneau Jr. led the 34 car field in the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts qualifying with a lap of 13:548, while Parks topped the B field at 14:121.

Wild intersection action kept the crowd buzzing as Jeremy Vanderhoof notched the win in the 20 lap ARCA Victory Lane Quick Oil Change Figure 8 feature. Billy Earley was second, Dennis Whisman Jr. was third, Jeremy Miller fourth and Scott Apperson fifth, followed by Ethen Lambert, Dan Apperson, John Lambert, Gary Cronenwett, Stephanie Bradley, James Vanderhoof, Joey Vanderhoof, Dennis Whisman Sr., Mark Lavoie and Travis Earley. Jeremy Vanderhoof and James Vanderhoof were the heat winners. James picked up his first career checkered flag with his win. The Fastime Racing Engines and Parts quick time was set by Billy Earley at 21:243.

The first visit of the year by the Great Lakes Mini Cup Cars at Flat Rock saw 14 year-old Jaden Cretacci take the win, his first ever, in the 25 lap contest. Leaders Elliot Pritchett and Tyler Minix tangled with 6 laps to go, sending both to the tail of the field. Jaden assumed command of the race and held back Jarrod Pritchett to score the big win. Third was Robert Ruttan, Elliot Pritchett was fourth and Minix fifth, followed by Jay Woosley, Colin Zeiman, Brad Curier, Bobby Stanley, Alyson Cretacci and Nichole Stanley. Minix and Elliot Pritchett took the heat wins.

A great field of 28 cars took the green flag for the rescheduled Monroe News Enduro 250 lap race. Matt Ringger, Robb Remick, Ed Case, Troy Brehmer and Jimmy Tucker all took turns leading the event. Case ran out front with Brehmer in his tire tracks for a better part of the 250 tours. At lap 183, Brehmer took the top spot and stayed there as the checkered flag flew over the #42 with the victory. Remick, Kyle Metdepenningen, Derrick Sheppard, Paul Martell, Tom LaFollette, Justin Chamberlin, Nathan Sprotberry, Jimmy Gullett and David Rumble completed the top ten finishers.

Next up on the Flat Rock schedule is the Lakeshore Utility Trailer Sales School Bus Figure 8 race, Saturday, June 17.
