The ARCA Figure 8 class has proven to be a great training ground throughout the years for oval track racers. A rising star emerged from the Flat Rock Speedway Figure 8 division in 1968. This is Jerry "The Bear" Makara, the 1968 champion in his #74. Makara scored 10 wins in the class before moving up to the Late Model division. Jerry was a winner all over the Midwest and Canada in the 1970's, piloting Late Models for several of the top car owners of the time. His Figure 8 teammate?? None other than another rising star-John Anderson, who racked up 23 feature wins in the Figure 8 wars in #72.
