Flat Rock Speedway

This is our first winter bulletin of the season.  We will post one for each month through March.  The winter office for both tracks is at Toledo:  419-727-1100.

Race division sponsors return!  Aramark Uniform Services (LM Sportsman) and Moran Chevrolet (FR Late Models) have both agreed to return as division sponsors!  Please be sure to thank them for their great support!  More details soon, and more announcements on sponsorship should also follow in January!

Schedules:  We will post the new schedules for both tracks on the web pages Tuesday, December 22.  The Toledo schedule will look different in 2016—Fridays, a couple Saturdays and 2-Sunday afternoon shows in May…Flat Rock will continue on Saturday nights from April 30-September 10.

The Factory Stock class will have 3 different types of races at Toledo in 2016; Oval, Figure 8 and Road Course race.  All will be point races.  **The Factory Stock and Enduro rules are the same for both classes, just as they were in 2015.  The ARCA Figure 8 division will have 3 events at Toledo in 2016.  There will not be a point system for the Figure 8’s at Toledo.  More details concerning these 3 events will follow soon.  The X Car class has been dropped.

Other schedule notes:  For ONE WEEKEND, August 12-13, Toledo and Flat Rock will flip race nights.  Friday, August 12, Flat Rock will run Figure 8’s, Street Stocks and a 250 lap Enduro race.  Saturday, August 13, Toledo will run a 100 lap Late Model Gold Cup race, a Late Model Sportsman race and a Factory Stock Road Course Race! 

As previously announced, the ARCA Aramark Late Model Sportsman class will compete again at Flat Rock (2 events) and Toledo (6-7 events).  The “Silver Cup” 3-race Series for the class will be created, with 50 lap races with additional awards included.  The Silver cup dates are: Sunday afternoon, May 15 at Toledo; Saturday, July 2 at Flat Rock and Friday, July 29 at Toledo.  More details will follow.

The five dates for the 250 lap Enduro Series events are:  Saturday, May 14-FR; Saturday, June 18-FR; Friday, July 15-Toledo; Friday, August 12-Flat Rock and Saturday, September 10-Flat Rock

W-9 forms:  Most of you have filled these out for tax purposes. Please send them in if you have not done so.

The 2016 membership forms are now up on the web pages and can be found under forms.  There is no increase in membership fees.

Schedules:  Toledo will open with a practice Saturday, April 2.  The first race is Saturday, April 16 with the 7-Up Twin 100’s—ARCA/CRA Late Models and the ARCA Gold Cup Late Models.  Flat Rock opens with a practice Saturday, April 23 and the first race Saturday, April 30.

The Rusty Wallace Racing Experience, where you can ride in or drive a stock car, will also be at Flat Rock this season for 2 Sunday outings.  They will also have 2 at Toledo for the 2016 season.

Car numbers:  Any changes of car numbers—be sure to call us at the office, or, if you are switching classes.  Please remember the Enduro races have an entry fee and a separate car number list…we will do our best to work with everyone.

Track work:  At Toledo, we now have the message board up and running.  Many thanks to the Hollywood Casino and Harmon Sign for their sponsorship of this program!  We have also been able to do some more cleanup of the grounds with the decent weather, and more asphalt millings have been added to the parking lot.  Additional projects are to work on the drainage in the infield area and pit area.

At Flat Rock, work on the concrete block buildings has been completed.  On the track, a narrow, paved apron has been added from turn 1 to turn 2.  The turn 3 and turn 4 corners of the Figure 8 track now have some pavement, in addition to patching on the Figure 8 track.  The intersection of the Figure 8 course will also see added pavement this spring.  Asphalt millings have been added to the pit area and parking lot, and Nick Shank’s power pole has been removed from his parking spot!  Both of the interiors of the restrooms also have a fresh coat of paint.  We also getting quotes on a message board for the track marquee’ on Telegraph Road.  The roofs on the men’s restroom and tech barn are also scheduled to be replaced this spring.

The date for the annual Racer’s Reunion and Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club meeting has a new date--Saturday, April 2 at the Toledo Speedway Bar and Grille.  The Reunion will take place during the day with photos, memorabilia, etc. on display and plenty of bench racing!  At 6 p.m., the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club meeting will take place.  Admission to the reunion/fan club meeting is free and everyone is invited!  New to the day will be an open practice from Noon to 5. A vintage race car display is also in the works!   A steak roast, with salad and baked potato will also be available from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The bar will be open with its drink and food offerings..

Fastime Racing Engines and Parts has relocated to 12254 Universal Drive in Taylor from its previous location in Wyandotte.  The new phone number is 734-947-1600.  Fastime has sponsored the Street Stock and Figure 8 Fast Qualifier Award at Flat Rock for the past 3 years.
