FLAT ROCK CHAMPION GRANT HEDGES RACING FOR A CURE

Driver Grant Hedges is on a mission this Saturday in the Corrigan Race Fuels Street Stock 100 at Flat Rock Speedway. The 2014 Late Model Rookie of the Year and 2013 Street Stock Champion is coming out of “Street Stock retirement” to raise awareness of children’s Neuroblastoma cancer for “Team Liam”. Liam, a family friend of Grant’s, is a brave 2 year old boy who has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma cancer - a rare form of cancer that develops in infants and small children. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy and several other treatments at the University of Michigan’s Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor. The 48 Street Stock will feature the “Team Liam” decal on its hood this weekend, with Hedges donating all race winnings to Liam’s recovery fund. “Team 48 and I are very excited to help raise awareness and support Team Liam in their quest for a cure. This little guy is a warrior, and we're honored to represent him. I am calling on our racing community to help Liam win his fight” said an enthusiastic Grant Hedges. Fans and teams interested in donating to "Liam's Fight" can find more details at: www.facebook.com/LilAssKickerLiam

There will be a Spaghetti Benefit Dinner for Liam at the Ypsilanti Moose Lodge on Saturday, September 12th from 1-10pm. Tickets are $10 per person and all are welcome to attend. Dinner will be served from 3-7pm. Activities include a Live Auction, Raffles, a 50/50 Drawing, and a Bouncy Castle for the kids. Grant and Team 48 will be in attendance and auctioning off the special “Team Liam” hood featured on the car during the 100 lap race. Please call Tony Walsh for tickets at (734) 660-7716.

Grant is excited to be back behind the wheel of his Street Stock to support such a great cause. “The Flat Rock Street Stock division is where I learned to race. I’m looking forward to racing with some of my friends again and sliding around for 100 laps. This race is always very aggressive and a lot of fun”. Depending how he feels, Liam will be at Flat Rock this weekend to take in some racing with his family and friends. “With everything Liam and his family are dealing with right now, I think it’s pretty cool they picked Flat Rock Speedway and this race to have a fun night out together. We’re on a mission for Liam and his family. We’re showing up to lead laps and win the race. I’m looking forward to the challenge and am going to do everything I can to put on a good show for them. We aren't racing for points this year, so we're swinging for the fences”, Hedges said with a smile.

Flat Rock Speedway will host the DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks, the Praxair Figure 8’s, TKC Go-Karts, and a Flag Pole race this Saturday night. Appropriately, it is also Kid’s Night, children ages 12 and under are admitted free and will receive a free hot dog! Tickets are $15 for adults.

Pit gates open at 2:30pm, practice begins at 4pm, time trials are set for 5:30pm, the on-track autograph session is at 6:15pm and racing begins at 7pm. The front gate and the ticket office will also be open at 4pm.
