GANUS ADDS TO GOLD CUP POINT LEAD WITH SANDUSKY WIN

Sandusky, OH—June 20, 2015 (Finishing order corrected, 6-22-15):  Current ARCA Royal Truck and Trailer Sales Late Model Gold Cup point leader Jeff Ganus made it 2 wins in 3 events as he scored the victory in the Pepsi 100 Saturday night at Sandusky, OH Speedway.  The race was a combination event with the Main Event Late Model Series.

Just before the field was ready to go for the 100 lap contest, Scott Hantz had an oil filter come apart, coating the track with oil.  After the cleanup, the race began and ran with no major incidents.  Terry Senneker took control at the start and was strong out front.  Ganus, the winner of the Gold Cup Season opener at Toledo in April and the fast qualifier Saturday night (16:526), moved steadily up from his 8th starting position.  The top 5 at lap 30 were Senneker, Nick Grodi, Alex Rosenberry, Ganus and Bud Perry.

Ganus moved into 2nd spot at the lap 44 mark, and set his sights on Senneker.  Harold Fair Jr. spun in a single car incident on lap 46, bunching the field.  By lap 50, Ganus looked high and low in his battle with Senneker for the lead.  At the lap 66 mark, Perry brought out the yellow when his car sailed off the end of the track in turn 2, bringing out the yellow flag.  On the re-start, Jeff got by Senneker for the lead and began to build up a comfortable margin.  On lap 88, Senneker apparently ran out of fuel and went to the pit area.  Ganus sailed away to the checkered flag and the win.  Rosenberry was second, Mike Mazzagatti was third, Fair Jr. recovered to grab fourth and Grodi came home fifth.  Scott Pemberton, Dennis Strickland, John Sandquist Jr., John Flynn, Senneker, Perry, Dave Stehouwer and Frankie Jiovani completed the finishing order.  Hantz and JR Karl were not able to start the feature event.

The next event for the Main Event Series is Friday night, June 26 at the Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, MI.  Friday, July 10, the Royal Gold Cup Series resumes with race number 4 back at Toledo Speedway for the Kevin Butzin Recycling 100 presented by Belle Tire.
