FROLING, EARLEY NOTCH FLAT ROCK VICTORIES

FROLING, EARLEY NOTCH FLAT ROCK VICTORIES

(Flat Rock, MI—June 20, 2015):  Flat Rock Speedway played host to a different type of race card Saturday night and a nice crowd turned out for a quick 2 hour program.  Jim Froling took the ARCA Aramark Late Model Sportsman race, while Billy Earley grabbed the ARCA Praxair Figure 8 feature race.  Race Loving was the Road Rage winner, while Dennis Whisman scored the Flag Pole race win.

It was bonus night for the 5th and 9th place finishers in the 2 main feature races, as Snap-On Tools awarded Cordless Impact Wrenches to Greg Stilwell Jr. and Greg Studt for their 5th place finishes.  Chad Stilwell and Race Loving also took home the impacts for 9th place runs, courtesy of Snap-On Tools.

The first of 2 visits by the Aramark Sportsman class to Flat Rock this season saw 3 different leaders in the non-stop 50 lap feature race.  Greg Stilwell Jr. and Kenny McKay took turns out front until Jim Froling rolled by on his way to the victory.  Ron Allen came home second, Mike Young third, Norm Lewallen fourth and Stilwell Jr. fifth, followed by McKay Jr., Andy Harding, Dan Grigsby and Chad Stilwell.  Young and Stilwell Jr. took the heat wins, while Froling posted fast time at 13:142, setting a new 1 lap mark in the process.

Second-generation driver Billy Earley zipped by Dennis Whisman to take the lead on his way to the win in the 20 lap ARCA Praxair Figure 8 contest.  Whisman held on for second, Jeremy Miller was third, Jeremy Vanderhoof fourth and Greg Studt fifth.  Robbie Loving, Parker Wade, Randy Roberts, Race Loving, Stephanie Bradley, David Katafiasz, Dennis Whisman Jr. and Scott Apperson were next in line at the finish.  Robbie Loving and Wade were the heat race victors.  Vanderhoof posted the Fastime Racing Engine and Parts quick time with a lap of 20:788.

The evening was capped off with a pair of “fun” events.  The Road Rage Race features a pace truck leading the field all around the track.  Wherever the truck goes, you go, but, you cannot pass the pace truck.  With the 7 car field all stacked up down on the pavement in the infield, the light went off on the pace truck, signaling get to the checkered flag first!  A wild scramble took place as Race Loving held on for the win over Whisman, Earley, Mike Miller, Joe Vanderhoof, Dennis Whisman Jr. and Travis Earley.

The Flag Pole race has a tire in the middle of the front straight and back straight----you just have to go around each of them to complete a lap!  The 6 lap event saw Dennis Whisman nose out Billy Earley for the win.  Race Loving, Whisman Jr., Joe Vanderhoof, Miller, Robbie Loving, Travis Earley and Scott Apperson trailed.

Saturday, June 27 at Flat Rock is a big night of racing and entertainment as Glass Unlimited presents Autograph Night!  Fans can walk on the track and meet their favorite drivers at 6:15.  The 93.1 NASH-FM Street Team will also be at the track to greet the fans.

The rescheduled Corrigan Race Fuels 100 lap feature for the ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks will highlight the night.  The ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models and Praxair Figure 8’s will also be in action.

The pit area opens at 2, practice begins at 3, time trials start at 5, the on-track autograph session is at 6:15 and racing begins at 7 p.m.
