FLAT ROCK ADDS OPEN PRACTICE THURSDAY
Monday, June 01, 2015: Flat Rock Speedway officials have added an open practice for this Thursday, June 4 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The pit area will open at 3:30 p.m. The Late Models will be given priority during the practice as the teams prepare for Saturday’s Diamond Racing Products Joy Fair Memorial 100.
The speedway received nearly 4 inches of rain in 24 hours that began Saturday afternoon and continued through Sunday afternoon. Many teams had booked testing sessions for this week, but the track is flooded and being pumped out. The pumping began at 5 p.m. Sunday evening.
In order to have the track in good shape, track rentals have been cancelled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday’s open practice will give teams the chance to check out their cars for Saturday’s race, in honor of the legendary Joy Fair, who passed away in 2011. The race is number 2 in the Royal Truck and Trailer Gold Cup Series for the ARCA Late Models and the first Gold Cup race of the season for Flat Rock’s Moran Chevrolet Late Models.
