Flat Rock Speedway

(Flat Rock, MI—August 6, 2014):  A new race night sponsor will take center stage Saturday night, August 9 as Skore-Woodhaven Bowling Centers presents the Twin 50’s at Flat Rock Speedway!  Both the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models and the ARCA Aramark Sportsman division will run 50 lap main events on the fast ¼ mile paved oval.  The track’s ARCA Praxair Figure 8 division will also be in action this Saturday evening.  UAW Local 3000 Night will also take place at the speedway.

Both bowling establishments are well-known in the Downriver Detroit area and are located just a few miles from the speedway.  On the track, the Late Models are down to their final 2 point races of the season, with Steve Cronenwett Jr. leading Paul Pelletier, Frank Jiovani, Derek Wiley and Stan Yee Jr. in the chase for the 2014 track championship.  A field of 20 cars is expected for the race.

Making their second appearance of the season at “The Rock” will be the ARCA Aramark Sportsman class, which mainly competes at Toledo Speedway during the season.  The July 50 lap event was won by Jim Froling.  Current division point leader Ron Allen leads Mike Young, Kenny McKay Jr., Tom O’Leary IV and Howard Kelley Jr. in the season points and are expected to be in action Saturday.

The wildly-entertaining Praxair Figure 8 division will hit the Figure 8 track for more action and excitement!  Jeremy Miller leads Billy Earley, Dennis Whisman, Greg Studt and Dan Apperson in the quest for the track title.

The pit gates open at 2:30, practice begins at 4, time trials are at 5:30 and racing begins at 7 p.m.  The front gates and the ticket office will also open at 4.  Flat Rock Speedway is located on Telegraph Road, just 5 minutes from I-75 and I-275.  Parking is free on the track grounds.  The track phone number is 734-782-2480.
