Flat Rock Speedway

(Flat Rock, MI—July 14, 2014):  In less than 2 weeks, one of the most interesting and competitive outlaw Late Model races in the Midwest will take place as Flat Rock Speedway plays host to the Moran Chevrolet-Stan Yee Memorial 150.  The race is leg number 4 of the 5-race Discount Tire ARCA Late Model Gold Cup Series.

A field of 25-35 cars is expected for this annual classic.  Phil Bozell of Portage, MI is the defending race winner.  The 2013 event saw the first 83 laps go green at an unbelievable pace, and the finish was a thriller as Bozell took the lead in the closing laps to score the huge victory in his first outing at the track.

Yee, a championship car owner in the Late Model ranks for over 40 years, passed away in 2008.  To honor his accomplishments and to remember Stan, the 150 lap event was named in his honor.  Yee’s son, Stan Jr., still carries the famed #33 on the doors of his Late Model.

The race will award $2533 to the winner and $533 to start the contest.  Bonus awards include lap money at $5 per lap, which is now available by calling the track at 734-782-2480 or the Toledo Speedway office at 419-727-1100.

Bob Fox of Diamond Racing Products, a family friend and fellow racer, has posted a $333 bonus to the fast qualifier, which goes along with the Discount Tire Gold Cup Series $100 DTS Drive Train Specialists fast time bonus, giving the top lap time a $433 cash award!

An optional practice session is set for Friday evening, July 25 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.   The pit area will open at 4.  DTS Drive Train Specialists will sponsor a dinner for each pit pass purchaser after Friday’s practice session. 

Race day on Saturday will see the pit area opening at 1:30, practice begins at 3 p.m. and the front gates will also open at that time.  Time trials begin at 5 and racing gets the green flag at 7 p.m.
