Flat Rock Speedway

(Flat Rock, MI-May 7, 2014):  Since the 1980’s, Enduro racing has been a part of the Flat Rock Speedway race schedule each season.  For 2014, the first of 4 Enduro races will hit the track Saturday, May 17.

Saturday, May 17 is also Scout Night. Scouts is uniform will be admitted free. 

A total of 24 cars are already entered for the 250 lap contest on the ¼ mile paved oval.  Today’s Enduro races have become a great race as much as a test of endurance of man and machine.  The race format remains the same-250 laps of action, with the race only stopped for safety concerns.  Jack’s Jammin’ Jam truck pushes cars off the track when needed, allowing the race to the checkered flag to continue!

The Enduro teams began a change to the format for their races last season, which was met with a positive response.  The Enduro cars will get a short practice session for the May 17 race, with the cars lined up by car number.  For the remaining 3 Enduro events, the lineup format will vary from race to race.

The MCR (Midwest Classic Racers) Dwarf Cars will also visit Flat Rock May 17, and for the first time, the VROA (Vintage Racing Organization of America) will be at Flat Rock.  MCR Dwarfs are a scale version of the coupe-style cars, while the VROA group features full body-style coupes of the 1940’s and 1950’s.

The pit area will open at 3:30, practice begins at 5, time trials for the MCR and VROA groups is at 6 and racing begins at 7 p.m.  The spectator gate and ticket office will open at 5 p.m.
