Dupuis Notches Mt. Dew 250 At Flat Rock

Final Enduro Now Set Aug 29th.

Flat Rock, MI  (8-3-2008)--  Veteran Tristan Dupuis made it 2 in a row after capturing the Mt. Dew 250 lap Enduro at Flat Rock Speedway on a bright, sunny Sunday afternoon.  Mike Bershback topped the field in the 25 lap ARCA David’s Jewelry 4 Cylinder main event.

The first 100 laps of the contest resembled a Saturday night feature event as the top 10 ran hard and battled for position throughout the race.  Just 2 red flags slowed the event, which was completed in 74 minutes.  Rick Bennett paced the field early on, with Michael Dailey, Jeff Maran, Dupuis and Bob Hochradel in pursuit.  By lap 75, Dupuis got to the front and used every groove at “The Rock” enroute to his victory.  Hochradel’s engine began to let go with 10 laps remaining, making the track surface very slick as numerous cars slipped and spun as the checkered flag fell on Dupuis.  Maran got his lap back late in the race and took second, finishing on the lead lap.  Third was Dailey, Hochradel was fourth and Robb Remick fifth.  Tom Sprotberry, Rick Bennett, Pat Haywood, Derrick Sheppard and Matt Ringger completed the top ten finishers in the 34 car starting field.

In the companion 4 Cylinder event, Mike Bershback grabbed the lead on lap 8 from Josh Remick on his way to victory in the 25 lap feature race.  A great battle for much of the contest saw 6-8 cars battling for position, using much of the track and running 3 and 4 wide at times and swapping positions lap after lap!  Only 1 yellow flag slowed the contest when Remick spun with 7 laps to go.  Mike took off on the restart on his way to the win over Brad Turner, David Price, Ray McClure, Matt Brazeau, Shawn Bershback, Michael Marlow, Jimmy Little, Remick, Brandon Brazeau, Perry Marlow and Jennifer Cronce.  McClure posted quick time at 15:320.

Track officials have announced a date change for the final Enduro race of the year.  The race, originally scheduled for Sunday, August 31, has been changed to Friday evening, August 29.  This is the 4th and final Enduro race for the season at Flat Rock Speedway.  The pits will open at 4:30, with racing at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening, August 29.

The track’s weekly Saturday night shows continue through September 13.  Next Saturday, August 9 is Lakeshore Utility Trailer Night, featuring 5 divisions of racing!  For the first time in 12 years, open wheel racing returns to Flat Rock as the Buckeye Super Sprints make their first visit to the ¼ mile oval.  The track’s Figure 8, Street Stock and 4 Cylinder classes will also be in competition, and the Michigan Legends will join the fun for the big show.  Race time is 7 p.m. next Saturday.
