Dupuis Sails at Flat Rock; Takes Diet Pepsi 250 Enduro Win

FLAT ROCK, MI (7-5-2008)--  Veteran Tristan Dupuis made the long trip from Alto, MI to Flat Rock Speedway Saturday night and sped to victory in the Diet Pepsi 250 lap Enduro race.  A solid turnout of fans enjoyed great weather and race car bowling, a rollover contest and a win by Ray McClure in the ARCA David’s Jewelry 4 Cylinder feature race.

The 250 lap contest started off with a red flag on lap 1 when Danny Bennett lost an axle in turn 1, bringing out a red flag, the first of 6 for the night.  Things got back to green flag racing with Jeff Maran, Michael Dailey and Rick Bennett leading the event while Dupuis worked his way to the front of the 38 car field.  By lap 70 Tristan was in charge of the race and Maran was running the wheels off his machine to stay with the leader.  Things finally calmed down after lap 115 and the remaining 135 laps went non-stop.  Dupuis put a lap on second place Maran at lap 176, but at lap 195, Tristan spun while trying to avoid Matt Ringger, with the duo both spinning into the infield.  The pair got moving quickly, Maran got his lap back but could not apply the pressure to Tristan as he zipped to the win and a $1000 payday.  Maran was second, Rick Bennett had his career-best finish in third,  Dailey was fourth and Tom Sprotberry was fifth, followed by Rick Johnson, Bob Hochradel, Troy Brehmer, Kevin Rapley and Eric Huston.  Matt Ringger was battling Bennett for third and ran out of fuel with about 35 laps to go, ending a great run.

Ray McClure jumped to the early lead and edged a charging Brad Turner to win the ARCA David’s Jewelry 4 Cylinder 20 lap main event.  The race was all-green flag and McClure nosed in front at the start.  Brad shadowed the number 44 of McClure the entire way and the lead duo finished in that order.  Michael Marlow was third, Doug Miller fourth and Matt Brazeau fifth, followed by David Price, Josh Remick, Jimmy Little, Tim Muesik, Jennifer Cronce and Mark Davis.  Brazeau set fast time at 15:499.  Heat wins went to McClure and Miller.

Rick Laraway bested Dave Arnold Jr. and Paul Duffin to win $500 and the trophy for the Rollover contest, while Cory McCaughey captured the race car bowling contest over Jeff Maran and Anthony Camilli.

Flat Rock’s very popular Miller Lite Triple 50’s and Fireworks show is set for next Saturday, July 12.  The ARCA Late Models, Figure 8’s and Street Stocks will all compete in 50 lap main events, and the evening will be capped off with the big FIREWORKS display!  The pits will open at 2, practice begins at 3:30, time trials are set for 5 and racing begins at 7 p.m.

ALL tickets go on sale on race day at 3:30 when the front gates open and practice begins.
