Maran Grabs Flat Rock Speedway Pepsi/Autism Speaks Enduro 250

FLAT ROCK MI (5-25-2008)-- Birthday boy Jeff Maran grabbed the win in Sunday afternoon’s Pepsi-Autism Speaks 250 lap Enduro race at Flat Rock Speedway. Mike Bershback held back a great run by Ray McClure to win the 25 lap 4 Cylinder main event. A group of children from the Autism Society took pace car rides, waved the green flag, presented trophies and had their pictures taken with the winners on a beautiful day.

Jeff Maran and Tristan Dupuis swapped the lead back and forth in the early stages of the race, which saw a fast pace throughout the day. Just past lap 60, Dupuis’day ended in a cloud of smoke. Maran stayed in charge with Scot Bunge, Rick Johnson and Robb Remick within striking distance. Jeff was able to motor on and put at least a lap on the field as he sailed to the $1000 payday in the 250 lap classic that went without a stop! Second was Rick Johnson, third was Robb Remick, fourth was Troy Brehmer and fifth went to Tom Sprotberry, followed by Rick Bennett, Derrick Sheppard, Tony Rumble, Ryan Kensinger and 2007 Enduro champ Michael Dailey.

The ARCA David’s Jewelry 4 Cylinder 25 lap contest was a crowd-pleaser as Mike Bershback held back the220.060.jpg charge of Ray McClure to win the event. Mike took control of the race several laps into the event, grabbing the lead from Dennis Helsel. McClure, the fast qualifier at 15:387, reeled in Bershback and the duo staged a great race. McClure looked high and low lap after lap but Mike was able to hold on for the victory. Third went to Brad Turner, fourth was Robb Remick and fifth went to Michael Marlowe, followed by Josh Remick, Matt Brazeau, Helsel and Jimmy Little.

The next 250 lap Enduro is set for Saturday evening, July 5. The 4 Cylinders, Race Car Bowling and a Rollover contest will also be part of the evening, sponsored by Diet Pepsi.
