Lee-Miller-DeMaggio-Abel Tops on Allen Chevy Night at Flat Rock

FLAT ROCK, MI (5-10-2008)-- Eric Lee, Jeremy Miller, Randy DeMaggio and Rich Abel were victorious in their respective feature events on Allen Chevrolet-Cadillac Night at Flat Rock Speedway. A crisp, clear evening greeted fans for the third night of racing at the ¼ mile asphalt oval. Tom Allen of Allen Chevy presented the trophies to the victors.

The 50 lap ARCA Moran Chevrolet-Miller Lite Late Model feature saw Eric Lee post his 2nd win of the season, and his second in a row at the track. With the top 10 drawing for position, Lee started 3rd, worked his way past early leader Ron Allen on lap 11 and never looked back on his way to victory. Greg Studt tried to reel in Lee, but settled for second spot. Allen was third, a fast-closing Paul Pelletier was fourth and Dennis Strickland came home fifth with a good run to the front. Roger Blackstock, Ricky Kargel, Jared Allison (in his first Flat Rock appearance), Chris Benson and Stan Yee Jr. completed the top ten. Lee set quick time for the 27 car field at 11:656. Sean Monahan captured the last-chance race, topping Dave Henneberry, Bill Litogot and Jeremy Vanderhoof, Georgia resident HeatherWilliams, Arnold Kirsch and Larry Smouthers. The top 4 moved to the main event.

Carleton, MI resident Jeremy Miller held back a late charge by Dennis Whisman to win the 20 lap ARCAf8featuremillerclose.jpg Speedway Bar and Grille Figure 8 feature contest. Miller jumped out front from his number 1 starting position and sailed out front. Whisman, last week’s winner, closed the gap as the laps wound down and caught Miller with 4 to go. Dennis applied the pressure but to no avail as Miller scored the win. Third through seventh were nose to tail at the stripe, with Billy Earley, Greg Studt, Jerry Lee, Robbie Loving and Jeremy Vanderhoof finishing in that order. Dan Apperson, Anthony Terris and Randy Roberts were next in line to complete the top ten. Loving set the Loving Auto Care fast time at 20:565, with the heat wins to Miller and Scott Apperson.

Randy DeMaggio led from start to finish to win the 20 lap ARCA Greater Detroit Auto Auction Street Stock A main event. Randy stayed out fron the entire distance, besting Dave Tanner, Rich Frantz, Tim Moore, Derek Wiley, Regan Ford, Danny Slater, Kyle Worley, Dan Ford Jr. and Patrick Zorn. Rich Abel was up to the task as he notched the 15 lap B Main win over Jason Burkhart, Donald Burkhart, Jerry Farmer, James Rae, Joe Gramlich, Jim Kourtakis, Mike Hans, Chris Diovardi and Ian Jezylo in the race that went all green flag. Regan Ford topped the A Main cars in time trials at 13:319, with Jason Burkhart the fast B man at 13:865. Heat race winners were Wiley, David Kind, Rob Moore, Hans, Abel and Troy Brehmer. 42 cars were on hand.

One of the most popular nights of the year, Autograph Night, is set for next Saturday, May 17. Race fans will be permitted to walk onto the track and meet their favorite ARCA Late Model, Figure 8, Street Stock and 4 Cylinder drivers at “The Rock”. Time trials are set for 4:45, the on-track autograph session begins at 6:15 and racing gets the green flag at 7 p.m. The evening is being sponsored by UAW Locals 387 and 3000.

The following Saturday, May 24 is a big 100 lap Figure 8 feature, with Street Stock action also on tap, followed by Race Car Roller Derby! The Roller Derby event has a “jam” car up front, with his mission to complete a set number of laps in a certain time. Only problem---he has 4-5 jammers that will try to keep him from making those laps! Race time is 7 p.m. Saturday. Sunday, May 25 is the Pepsi-Autism Speaks 250 lap Enduro race and the 4 Cylinders at 1 p.m. The track phone number is 734-782-2480, or check the track website at www.flatrockspeedway.com
