I-75 Construction in Detroit Forces Alternate Travel Routes to Flat Rock, Toledo

TOLEDO OH (3-10-08)--It's now official and in the construction phase-I-75 in both directions is CLOSED in Detroit between Clark Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard for the planned Ambassador Bridge interchange project. It is slated to be closed through Christmas of 2009.

Race fans venturing to both Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways using I-75 from north of the Motor City will need to find alternative routes for the next 2 seasons. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) suggests using I-94 to I-275 South to exit 8 (Will Carleton Road) when going to Flat Rock. Take Will Carleton east 5 miles, where the road dead-ends into Telegraph. Go right, or south mile to the speedway, which sits on the west side of Telegraph Road.

Telegraph Road is another alternate for fans and race teams headed to Flat Rock.

If you are on your way to Toledo, continue on I-275 South back to I-75 South and continue down to Toledo Speedway, located at the I-75/Alexis Road exit (exit 210). Go right, or west at the exit, and the speedway sits behind the Meijer store. Go left at the light at the bottom of the overpass at Hagman Road, where the road dead-ends into the track. Go right and to the track parking lot. The track is just º mile from the exit.

In another construction note, I-75 in both directions is once again slated for construction just south of last yearís bottleneck. The planned construction is from Fort St. to Gibraltar Road.
