Joe Gibbs Racing Returns to Flat Rock | William Sawalich Looks to Repeat

Joe Gibbs Racing has filed an entry for the upcoming Dutch Boy 150 ARCA Menards Series East race at Flat Rock Speedway, with 2023 ARCA Menards Series East champion, Minnesota’s William Sawalich, listed as the driver for the team’s No. 18 Toyota.

Sawalich swept Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways in ARCA Menards Series competition in 2023, winning in the ARCA Menards Series East Dutch Boy 150, then following up with a win in the ARCA Menards Series championship race at Toledo Speedway in October.

In October of 2023, Sawalich became only the second driver in history after Joy Fair to have a win in both an ARCA Menards Series race at Toledo (2023), and the Glass City 200 (2022).

The Minnesota native has also competed in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series with David Gilliland Racing, taking three top tens in his first four races in 2023, with a best finish of sixth at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park last summer.

Sawalich won the ARCA Menards Series/ARCA Menards Series West combination race at Phoenix Raceway in March, and took second place at the ARCA Menards Series East opener at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. He is scheduled to compete in a diverse schedule across the ARCA Menards Series platform throughout 2024, including an expected return to Toledo Speedway in October at the ARCA Menards Series Owens Corning 200.

Joe Gibbs Racing has also announced that Sawalich will be racing part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series later this season, taking the wheel of the #19 Toyota Supra, in a ride shared with Aric Almirola, Ryan Truex, Joe Graf Jr., Taylor Gray, and Ty Gibbs.

Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) fields teams in the NASCAR Cup Series for drivers Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex, Jr., Christopher Bell, and 2021 ARCA Menards Series champion Ty Gibbs. The team also competes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Sheldon Creed and 2019 Toledo Speedway ARCA Menards Series feature winner Chandler Smith.

JGR won the ARCA Menards Series owner’s title in 2020 and 2021 and won East championships with drivers Joey Logano in 2007 and Max Gresham in 2011.

You can see William Sawalich race at Flat Rock Speedway on Saturday, May 18th when the ARCA Menards Series East takes on the Level Pebble, Flat Rock Speedway.

Furthermore, there will also be a pre-race autograph session in the Flat Rock Speedway garage area!

Advance general admission tickets are available for the Dutch Boy 150 at FlatRockSpeedway.com or by calling (734) 782-2480.
