CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKENDS BEGIN AT FLAT ROCK; PELLETIER GUNS FOR 4TH TITLE
August 15, 2016: Flat Rock Speedway’s 2016 track champions will be determined the next 2 Saturday nights at the ¼ mile paved oval. First up is the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Season Championship event, scheduled for Saturday night, August 20.
This Saturday will also be the re-scheduled Kids Night! All kids to age 12 will be admitted FREE and receive a FREE hot dog, courtesy of the speedway. Parents should pick up the children’s tickets at the ticket office upon arrival to the track this Saturday.
Current point leader Paul Pelletier holds a 60 point advantage over Stan Yee Jr. and a 75 point margin over Frank Jiovani. Corey Duane and Jimmy Thiel are next in line in the points and both are mathematically still in the hunt. There are a total of 240 points available. The Trenton, MI native will be seeking his 4th Flat Rock crown. His past titles were in 2006, 2010 and 2012. Paul has 20 feature wins in his career at “The Rock”, tying him with Dick Barker and Steve Lee.
The Moran Chevrolet Late Model competition has been very strong all season, with just 1 repeat winner this year (Jimmy Thiel). Pelletier captured his win back on July 9, and has been very solid all season long in the #44 machine owned by his father, David Pelletier.
The winner of Saturday’s Late Model feature will collect an additional $100 from the “Mystery Award” bonus program. For the weekly events, a starting position was drawn and if the driver finishing in that position won the feature, he collected the bonus money, which rolled over if not won. Both Craig Everage and Thiel have collected the bonus money ($400 each) this season.
The ARCA Victory Lane Oil Change Figure 8’s and the ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks will also be in action August 20.
The Saturday, August 20 race has the pit area opening at 2, practice begins at 4, the front gates and ticket office open at 4, time trials are set for 5:30 and racing begins at 7 p.m.
FIGURE 8, STREET STOCK CHAMPIONSHIP RACES SET FOR AUGUST 27; ARCA/CRA 125, RESCHEDULED ENDURO RACE AND NASCAR RACER CHRIS BUESCHER ALSO AT FLAT ROCK
The Figure 8 and Street Stock A and B Main champions will be decided Saturday, August 27. Harris Mechanical will sponsor the events.
The 7-Up 125 lap feature for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Late Models powered by Jeg’s will also take place August 27 as well as the rescheduled Monroe News 250 lap Enduro race. With the addition of the Enduro event, the August 27 event will have a special start time of 6:15 p.m.
Former ARCA Racing Series champion and NASCAR Xfinity champion Chris Buescher will sign autographs for the fans August 27 at Flat Rock. An Autograph session with the ARCA/CRA drivers is also on the schedule, which will begin at approximately 5:45 p.m.
