NEW “MYSTERY AWARD” POSTED FOR FLAT ROCK FAIR, YEE MEMORIAL RACES
Flat Rock, MI—June 20, 2016: In early April, a letter arrived at Flat Rock Speedway unsigned and with no return address. It contained the details for a “Mystery Award” for the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Model division for the 2016 weekly events, totaling $900.
Last Friday, another letter arrived at the speedway. And this “Mystery Award” is for Flat Rock’s 2 biggest Late Model events-this Saturday’s Diamond Racing Products Joy Fair Memorial 100 and for the July 23 Moran Chevrolet Stan Yee Memorial, totaling $750. It is detailed as follows:
The top 5 finishers in the Joy Fair Memorial race will each receive a $50 bonus. IF one of these drivers wins the Stan Yee Memorial 150 in July, that driver will collect a $500 bonus. If none of the Fair Memorial 100 top 5 win the 150, then the top five finishers in the 150 will each receive a $100 bonus.
Additional bonus awards already posted for the Fair Memorial include a $100 cash bonus from DTS Drive Train Specialists for fast time and lap money at $5 per lap. Lap sponsorship is still available by calling 419-727-1100. Current lap sponsors include Rand Thompson (2), Level Pebble Racing Photos (2), Giles Auto Body (5), Performance Images (10), lap 50 $25 bonus-Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club, Mike Damic Photography (10), Budget Tire (5), Max and Karen Scott (10), Edgar Brown (6), Paul and Iris Anton (2), Bill Benjamin Jr. and Sr. (4), In Memory of Art Maki (2), Amazing Miracle Spray (2), and a lap 6 and lap 21 bonus of $100 each in Memory of Chris and Doris Sanders.
Qualifying, last-chance race(s) and a 25 lap B Main are on the race card, in addition to the 100 lap feature. The ARCA Victory Lane Oil Change Figure 8 division will also be in action.
A Thursday, June 23 practice session is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The pit gates will open at 4 p.m.
The Saturday, June 25 schedule has the pit area opening at 1:30, practice begins at 3:30, time trials are at 5:30 and racing begins at 7 p.m. There is no advance ticket sale. All tickets will go on sale at the track on race day at 3:30 p.m.
