OVER 200 ATTEND RACER REUNION, OTHER ACTIVITIES AT TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BAR & GRILL SATURDAY, APRIL 2

More than 200 former drivers, car owners, mechanics, officials, sponsors and racing enthusiasts participated in the 13th annual Racer Reunion Saturday April 2 at the Toledo Speedway Bar & Grill, in addition to others attending the Michigan Racing Fan Club monthly meeting and the Flat Rock-Toledo Speedway ARCA Officials’ preseason meeting.

At the Racer Reunion, displays of photos, scrapbook clippings, yearbooks, diecasts, rulebooks, trophies and racing memorabilia of all sorts were available for viewing from 1 to 5 pm. In addition, videos of races from the 60s through the 90s were available for viewing. For the first time, vintage race cars were on display and featured John Nece’s restoration of his father Ray Nece’s ramp truck/trailer and #01 ’57 Chevrolet late model, Milt Wood’s restored Iggy Katona #30 Dodge ARCA Racing Series car and Mike Bolick’s “unrestored” coupe which was displayed as it was found and rescued from an Ohio farm barn. The always popular trivia contest was again a hit, with many prizes distributed to those correctly identifying the drivers projected and displayed in large format to the enthusiastic crowd.

Following the Racer Reunion, MARFC President Wild Bill Barnhart conducted the club’s monthly meeting, which featured an ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards update, a Flat Rock Speedway and Toledo Speedway update and the annual viewing of the ARCA Racing Series “Year In Review” video from the December banquet.

Next activities for Racer Reunion participants are Friday, June 24 at Toledo Speedway and Saturday, June 25 at Flat Rock Speedway. The June 24 race at Toledo is the 3rd annual King of the Wing open wheel sprint car race, which also features the Top Speed Modifieds. The June 25 race at Flat Rock is the annual Joy Fair 100 for ARCA Royal Truck & Trailer Gold Cup Outlaw Late Models and Main Event Series Outlaw Late Models, along with ARCA Figure-8 racing. Both functions will feature on-track recognition of all former racers in attendance.
