BREHMER GRABS THE WIN, REMICK MONROE NEWS ENDURO SERIES CHAMP

Toledo, Ohio—September 12, 2015:  A very cool, cloudy and windy night was the setting for Saturday’s final race of 2015 at Flat Rock Speedway.  Troy Brehmer worked his way back into contention after going a lap down early and pulled off a comeback win for the $1000 top prize in the Monroe News Enduro Series 250 lap event.  Gregory Rudzik took the Michigan Legends contest, while Zach Parish won the Bandolero feature event.  Robb Remick’s third place run cemented the 2015 Enduro title for the Royal Oak, MI driver.

The 5th and final race of the Monroe News Enduro Series saw point leader Remick and challenger Rick Bennett swap the lead early on in the 250 lap contest.  Bennett held the point at the half-way mark but a determined Troy Brehmer began to make his charge to the front.  Troy went down a lap early, but found the top groove to his liking and battled back to take the lead in the final 50 laps of the event, which was slowed by just 1 red flag when Nick Case lost a wheel.  As the race went back to green, Troy stayed in command all the way to the checkered flag for his big win.  Bennett came home second, Remick was third, Derrick Sheppard fourth and Jacob Thomas fifth, followed by Jeff Braun, Jimmy Gullett, David Rumble, Tony Rumble, Ed Case and Matt Ringger.  Jimmy Tucker, Mike Miller, Paul Martell, Tom LaFollette, Brad Turner, Justin Chamberlin, Nick Case, Dave Bennett, Tim Hensley and Jeff Metdepenningen completed the finishing order.  Metdepenningen set fast time at 14:160, but encountered transmission trouble and was the first car to retire for the night.

Greg Rudzik sailed to the win in the 25 lap Michigan Legends Car feature, topping Rick Kilbourn, Mason Ludwig, Lyn Hall and Lori Hall.  Ludwig won the heat race.

Zach Parish held back the challenge of Michelle Michalak and Logan Haughton to win the 12 lap feature race for the Bandolero cars, which made their annual trip to Flat Rock.  Nate Jenkins, Faith Schuch, Cody Hall and Jon Parish were next in line at the finish.  Michalak took the heat win.

A racer’s flea market will take place at the track Saturday, October 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The speedway will also be the site of the semi-annual Flat Rock Historical Society Flea Market Sunday, October 4, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Set-up is on a first-come, first serve basis and begins at Midnight.  Admission to the grounds is free.  For more information, please call 734-782-5220.
