NASCAR SPRINT CUP DRIVER DAVID RAGAN AT FLAT ROCK SPEEDWAY AUG. 15

FLAT ROCK, MI—NASCAR Sprint Cup driver David Ragan will be at Flat Rock Speedway Saturday, Aug. 15, to meet race fans and sign autographs prior to the start of the racing program that night.

Ragan, from Unadilla, Georgia, currently drives the #55 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota for car owner Michael Waltrip Racing on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Earlier this season, Ragan subbed for the injured Kyle Busch for Joe Gibbs Racing in the #18 M&Ms Toyota. Ragan is currently 24th in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver point standings. Ragan will be in the area to drive in the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan Int’l Speedway Sun. Aug. 16.

“I always enjoy visiting the local short tracks and communities as we travel around the country on the NASCAR Sprint Cup tour,” said Ragan. “It’s especially nice to have a chance to get back to tracks I’ve raced at like Flat Rock, and to reconnect with a lot of the friends I made when I raced in the ARCA Racing Series. The ARCA family has always been real, real close to our racing family over the years.”

Ragan’s father Ken Ragan raced in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards from 1982-1991 and went on to drive in the NASCAR Xfinity and Sprint Cup Series. David Ragan made 31 career ARCA Racing Series starts from 2003-2008, winning at Lanier National Speedway in Georgia, before advancing to NASCAR.

“Driving race cars at short tracks like Flat Rock and in tour events like the ARCA Series was a great help in developing my skills,” said David Ragan. “It’s a big factor in having the opportunity I have today to drive the Aaron’s Dream Machine for Michael Waltrip Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. I’m looking forward to meeting the fans and seeing some great short track racing at Flat Rock.”

The racing schedule for Sat. Aug. 15 features the only 2015 Flat Rock appearance of the ARCA CRA Super Series powered by Jegs. Drivers from throughout the eastern half of the U.S. will compete in the 7-Up 125, including Brian Campbell, Scott Hantz, Hunter Baize, Grant Quinlan, Eddie Van Meter, Wes Griffith Jr., Mark Lambert, Tom Woodin, Nick Gullata, female driver Ali Kern and local driver Matt Hall of Newport. An on-track autograph session with the ARCA CRA drivers precludes the 7-Up 125 and additional racing featuring the weekly Flat Rock Speedway ARCA Praxair Figure-8 and ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock divisions. Gates open at 3:30pm with racing at 7pm.
