RAIN SHUTS DOWN FLAT ROCK; PELLETIER LATE MODEL CHAMP

Flat Rock, MI: August 20, 2016: Flat Rock Speedway’s Late Model Season Championship fell victim to rain showers Saturday night. Several sets of practice laps were completed between rain showers until a steady rain set in. The Late Model final event will not be rescheduled.

The ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Model champion for 2016 is Paul Pelletier of Trenton, MI. The title is Paul’s 4th at the 1/ 4 mile paved oval.

A big night of racing is on the schedule at Flat Rock next Saturday. NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Chris Buescher will greet race fans and sign autographs Saturday, August 27.

Buescher is in a battle to qualify for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase for the Championship based on his victory at Pocono in July. The Front Row Motorsports driver’s win, at the wheel of his Ford Fusion, will qualify him for the Chase if he maintains a championship points position in the top 30. Buescher won the 2012 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards driving championship as a Roush Fenway development driver in Fords fielded by the Roulo Brothers Racing team, and went on to win the 2015 NASCAR Xfinity Series driving championship in Fords fielded by Roush Fenway Racing.

Joining Buescher’s appearance headlining the Saturday, August 27 schedule at Flat Rock Speedway is the 7-Up 125, the annual appearance of the ARCA CRA Super Series. Also on the card are the Harris Mechanical Season Championships for ARCA Figure-8s and ARCA Street Stocks, in addition to the rainout rescheduled Enduro 250. In all, nearly 500 laps of feature racing are on tap. The Kids Night promotion will now be held August 27. Kids to age 12 will be admitted FREE and receive a FREE hot dog.

Due to the expanded content of the racing program, an earlier start will see preliminary heat races beginning at 6:15pm.
