NEEDLES RETURNS TO FLAT ROCK FOR MORAN CHEVROLET-STAN YEE MEMORIAL 150

(Flat Rock, MI—July 19, 2016): Current ARCA Royal Truck-Trailer Late Model Gold Cup Series point leader Steve Needles has filed his entry for Flat Rock Speedway’s biggest race of the season, the Moran Chevrolet-Stan Yee Memorial 150. The race is leg number 5 of the 6-race Gold Cup Series.

Past winners of the Yee Memorial race include Justin Schroeder (2008), Mike Luberda Jr. (2009), Mike Root (2010, 2012), Eric Lee (2011), Phil Bozell (2013), Harold Fair Jr. (2014) and Jeff Ganus (2015).

Needles, the St. Joseph, MI driver is 4 for 4 in Gold Cup events this season, notching victories at Sandusky, OH, with two wins at Toledo and grabbing the win in the June Joy Fair Memorial 100 at Flat Rock.

A total of 6 former Flat Rock Late Model champions—Joe Hawes, Dennis Strickland, Eric Lee, Paul Pelletier, Justin Schroeder and Stan Yee Jr.—are all entered for Saturday’s longest race of the season. Former Gold Cup champions entered include defending champ Dakota Carlson, Harold Fair Jr. and Scott Hantz.  Strickland is also a former Gold Cup champion- a leading 4-time titlist.

A variety of bonus awards have been posted for the 150, and includes lap money at $5 per lap, which is now available by calling the track at 734-782-2480 or the Toledo Speedway office at 419-727-1100.

The “Mystery Award” sponsor has posted another $500 for the 150. Should any of the top 5 finishers from the Joy Fair Memorial 100 win the 150-Steve Needles, Harold Fair Jr., Justin Claucherty, Jimmy Thiel or Dakota Carlson--they will collect the $500 bonus. IF none of these 5 win the 150, then each of the top 5 in the 150 will get a $100 bonus.

Diamond Racing Products has posted a $333 bonus to the fast qualifier, which goes along with the $100 DTS Drive Train Specialists Gold Cup Series fast time bonus AND the weekly Moran Chevrolet fast time $100 bonus, giving the top lap time a $533 cash award!

Moran Chevy will also award a set of tires to a driver at the event, along with the weekly Moran Hard Charger (Most Improved) $50 bonus.

Flat Rock and Kalamazoo Speedway have also teamed up to post a $300 cash award to the highest-finishing Kalamazoo top 20 driver that make the 150.

An optional practice session is set for Friday evening, July 22 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.   The pit area will open at 3:30. DTS Drive Train Specialists will sponsor a dinner for each pit pass purchaser after Friday’s practice session.

Race day on Saturday will see the pit area opening at 1, practice begins at 3 p.m. and the front gates will also open at that time. All tickets will go sale race day at the track at 3 p.m. The track’s ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks will also be in action. Time trials begin at 5:15 and racing gets the green flag at 7 p.m.
