FLAT ROCK SPEEDWAY PREPARES FOR JET’S PIZZA SEASON OPENER APRIL 30

Flat Rock, MI—April 12, 2016: With the weather finally making what is hoped to be the turn to summer and warmer temperatures, track officials are preparing for the 2016 Jet’s Pizza Season Opener at Flat Rock Speedway Saturday evening, April 30.

The ¼ mile paved oval, known as “The Rock”, roars to life as the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models, ARCA Victory Lane Oil Change Figure 8’s and the ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks hit the track for the first event of the new season. The same 3 divisions have been featured at the speedway since 1977.

A pre-season practice gets things moving on Saturday, April 23, from Noon to 5 p.m. The pit gates will open at 10 a.m. Spectators will be admitted free of charge to watch practice. A rain date of Wednesday, April 27 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. has been established.

Saturday night racing runs April 30 through September 10. A lone exception is in August, when Flat Rock and its sister track, Toledo, OH Speedway, will flip race nights for 1 weekend only.

The Friday Night Special August 12 at Flat Rock is Kid’s Night! All kids to age 12 will be admitted FREE and receive a FREE hot dog! On the track, the Monroe News 250 lap Enduro race and complete race cards for the ARCA Victory Lane Oil Change Figure 8’s and the ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks will highlight this Friday night event!

The Saturday, April 30 time schedule has the pits opening at 1:30 p.m., practice begins at 3 (front gates will also open at 3), time trials are set for 5 and racing get the first green flag of the season at 7 p.m.

The following day, Sunday, May 1, the Flat Rock Historical Society Flea Market will take place at the speedway. Admission is free to the grounds, as is parking. The market runs from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. For vendor information, please contact 734-782-5220 or log onto www.flatrockhistory.org.
