FLAT ROCK, TOLEDO CHAMPIONS HONORED AT MARFC BANQUET

(January 25, 2016): The Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club’s (MARFC) 50th Anniversary banquet was held Saturday night in Warren, MI and the 2015 Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway track champions were honored as part of the ceremonies.

The club holds its annual banquet to honor the track champions from the State of Michigan and several national touring organizations.

MARFC board member Jeff Horan presented plaques to Flat Rock champions Justin Schroeder, Landon Schuster, Jeffrey Kurzyniec and Billy Earley, while Toledo champs Mike Young, Greg Studt, Jeremy Vanderoof and Matt Ringger collected their hardware in honor of their 2015 championships.

2015 ARCA Late Model Gold Cup champion Jeff Ganus accepted his plaque from Fan Club President Bill Barnhart.

Toledo Speedway will host the April monthly meeting of the fan club Saturday, April 2 at the Speedway Bar and Grille from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The meeting will follow the 13th annual Racer’s Reunion, which brings together former and current racers and collectors to bench race and share thousands of photos and memorabilia from race tracks across the Midwest. The MARFC Fan Club meeting will follow at 6 p.m. The NASCAR Truck race from Martinsville, VA will also be feature on the bar/grille TV’s.

April 2 will be a busy day at the track, as Toledo will also conduct an open practice day on-track for race cars to kick off the 2016 racing season. The session will run from Noon to 5 p.m.; the pit area will open at 10 a.m. In the event of weather, the practice session will be held the next day Sunday, April 3 at the same times. Admission to the Reunion, Fan Club meeting and the grandstands for practice day are all free of charge.

Several vintage race cars are expected to be on display and a steak roast will be held at the bar and grille from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Toledo Speedway roars into action Saturday, April 16 with a pair of 100 lap Late Model races, one each for the outlaw-bodied ARCA Royal Truck and Trailer Gold Cup Series and the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by Jeg’s Late Model tour. The 7-Up 200 presented by Royal Truck and Trailer has a 3 p.m. start.

Flat Rock Speedway will open its 64th consecutive year of action Saturday, April 30 with a full slate of racing for the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models, Figure 8’s and the DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks. Race time is 7 p.m.
