Longtime ARCA member, racer Bobby Rae passes

(TOLEDO, Ohio – July 22, 2015) – Hearts are heavy in the ARCA community upon receiving the sad news that longtime ARCA member and racer Bobby Rae died Wednesday morning, July 22. He was 75.

Bobby, of New Boston, Michigan, raced ARCA sanctioned late models, street stocks and figure-8s going back to the 1960s at Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways, and always with his trademark No. 103. He is noted as winning a figure-8 feature at Flat Rock and raced his street stock as late as 2012.

Bobby also spent several years over the last decade serving ARCA’s national tour as an official while his racing career began to wind down.

Born on December 21, 1939, Bobby and his wife Karen lived a full life keeping up with kids, grandkids and racing. Bobby lived out his dreams, one of which was to see his grandson Collin Barron drive his No. 103 street stock. Bobby in fact made it out to Flat Rock just this past Saturday night to see it happen.

Bobby’s grandsons Collin and Caleb are currently crew members for street stock veteran driver Clyde McKee’s No. 4 car.

Bobby was known for his kind, gentle nature and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

So, so thankful to our ARCA family for their prayers and support. There was absolutely nowhere he would rather be than at a race track- any racetrack, whether he was racing, working, or just talking about racing. Thanks to all for your continued support. #103pride
