FLAT ROCK-TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BULLETIN (11-25-14)

FLAT ROCK-TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BULLETIN (11-25-14)

This is our first winter bulletin of the season.  We will post one for each month November-March.  The winter office for both tracks is at Toledo:  419-727-1100.

Banquet:  Our return to Crystal Gardens was the right thing to do!  Many thanks to all the attendees!  The 2015 banquet date is Friday, November 6.

Rules:  The 2015 changes have been out since October; the Enduro-Factory Stock rules were out last week and the 2 groups have been combined into 1 class.  Many of the changes are in regards to safety.  The changes are posted on both track’s webpages under forms.

New name!  The ARCA Sportsman class has undergone a title change—the division will now be known at the Late Model Sportsman.

Sponsors:  At the banquet, Moran Chevrolet (Flat Rock Late Models), Ararmark Uniform Services (Late Model Sportsman) and DTS Drive Train Specialists (Street Stocks) all announced their return for 2015.  And we have just received confirmation today that R & M Recycling will return as the X Car class sponsor!  Please be sure to say thank you to these folks and support their businesses!  We are working on finalizing other sponsorship programs at this time.

Christmas presents!  We have just released our Christmas present list for the Race Fan in your life!  That form can be found under forms on the web pages and includes race tickets for the first time!  If you would like to purchase a raceceiver or concrete pad rental for a gift, call us and we can do that!

Speedway Bar and Grille Christmas Party and Customer Appreciation is Friday, December 5 at the Toledo Speedway site!  Everyone is welcome.  The bar opens at Noon!  Complimentary appetizers will be provided, there’s a White Elephant gift exchange and 50/50 raffle by Driven Women, along with ARCA wearables Christmas sale!  There will be drink specials all day/night, and the drawings take place at 7 p.m.  Details---call Julie at 419-729-9182.

Schedules:  Will be released prior to the New Year.  Toledo will open Saturday, April 11 with the 7-Up Twin 100’s—ARCA/CRA Late Models and (new for 2015) the ARCA Gold Cup Late Models.  The Friday night opener is May 8, with practice set for Tuesday night, May 5.  Flat Rock opens with a practice Saturday, April 18 and the first race Saturday, April 25.

Flat Rock:  We have made the decision to NOT race on Saturday, July 4.  We will, however, race FRIDAY, July 3--Figure 8’s, Street Stocks, MCR Dwarf Cars and the Enduro 250.  These will be point races.  Toledo will be dark and has no racing scheduled for July 3.

Several race dates of specials at Flat Rock:  May 30-100 lap Street Stock; June 6-Joy Fair Memorial 100; June 13-School Buses; July 11-Triple 50’s-Fireworks; July 25-Moran Chevrolet-Stan Yee Memorial 150; Aug.15-ARCA/CRA 7-Up 125; Aug. 29-Season Championships; Sept. 5-School Buses; Sept. 12-Enduro championship.

Flat Rock improvements:  With decent weather in October, we were able to bring in more asphalt millings to the pit area and parking lot, do some pavement repair on the track, and remove the catch fence and uprights down the backstretch.  The new uprights, catch cable and 100 feet of new fence project is to begin the first week of December.

Enduro/Factory Stocks:  For the first time ever, a 250 lap Enduro race will be contested at Toledo—Friday, June 19.  There will be 4 Enduros at Flat Rock and the 1 at Toledo.  A total of four (4) separate Factory Stock races will be held at Toledo during the season, with a point system in place for the 4 events.  And, these cars may also run with the X Cars (these 2 classes are not scheduled on the same night), giving this group an option to run plenty of nights if desired.

Toledo:  We have also been able to finish up some repairs in the off-season prior to the snow and cold.  Asphalt repairs, the installation of four new billboard frames, the addition of a speaker in the far west end of the pit area and new doors installed on the pit restrooms and cement work have been completed.

Toledo special event dates:  Sunday, May 17-ARS 200; May 29-Night of Destruction; June 12-Fastest Short Track Show in the World; June 26-King of the Wing Sprint Car Shootout; July 10-ARCA Gold Cup Late Model 100; Aug. 14-Miller Lite 100, ARCA Gold Cup/Main Event Late Models; Aug. 28-Night of Destruction; Sat. Sept. 19-Glass City 200.

W-9 forms:  Most of you have filled these out for tax purposes. We mailed out over 70 forms to those who earned over $600 and did not fill out a form—we have received a total of 12 back.  Please send them in.

Rand Thompson will be the official track photographer at Flat Rock Speedway in 2015.  Welcome!  Charlie Orns will return as Toledo’s track photographer.

Congratulations to Bill and Judy Leach, our Enduro inspection team on their retirement from the events.  We thank you for your 30 years of dedication and support!

Car numbers:  Any changes of car numbers—be sure to call us at the office, or, if you are switching classes.  “We will start a new car number list for the Factory Stocks.  Please remember the Enduro races have an entry fee and a separate car number list…we will do our best to work with everyone.

The December bulletin will be posted by December 22.  Have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving!
