FLAT ROCK SPEEDWAY TO HOST OBSTACLE COURSE 5K RUN/WALK

Flat Rock Speedway is proud to announce an “insanely fun” 5K obstacle run on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the Flat Rock Speedway.  The event is sponsored by various Christian ministries to support the fundraiser, “Little Dresses for Africa,” which sends millions of dresses to Africa made of pillowcases. The Cross Course is a 5K, 3.11 mile obstacle course in which participants can run, walk or jog through the speedway. There will be over 15 obstacles throughout the course. According to Cross Course, “your faith and body will be put to the test.”

Obstacles at the event will include crawls, wall climbs, nets, slip and slides, tires, ropes and more.  All proceeds will go toward helping to ship supplies, equipment and dresses to Malawi, Africa. Mud runs and 5K’s are increasing in popularity lately due to how unique they are and fun. Although this event will not get you muddy, there are not many other opportunities for people to overcome obstacles, all while battling it out for a great cause! It is expected to be a popular event among the community.

The up and coming local Metro City Church band Alive City will provide entertainment after the race as they play their popular songs and some famous classics! The whole event is family-friendly and all ages.  Participants are encouraged to bring their whole family to participate in the fun and charity.

Registration at the track begins at Noon, with the race slated to start at 2 p.m.  The track will staff a concession stand for the event and restroom facilities will be provided.  To save 50% on the registration fee, simply enter the word “Clown” as the promo code!  All participants and spectators will enter the track through the center gate off Telegraph Road.

The Cross Course staff is looking for volunteers to help out with the event, as well as local sponsors.  All ministries are welcome to set up booths at no cost.  Most importantly, they are looking for people to register to participate in the run.  Participants can sign up either as a team or an individual at www.crosscourse.org.  According to an event coordinator, “We encourage funny costumes and will be giving prizes away for the best ones. We have group discounts and also a ton of promos on facebook.com/crosscourse5k.”
