Braden takes checkered flag in ARCA/CRA race

(FLAT ROCK, Mich. – August 16, 2014) – Defending ARCA/CRA Super Series champion and current point leader Travis Braden took home the checkered flag Saturday at Flat Rock Speedway, winning the 7UP 125 in a race that took just over an hour to complete.

Braden, from West Virginia, beat Ali Kern of Fremont, Ohio, to the finish line by just over a half-second.

Steve Dorer was third, Paul Shafer Jr. fourth and Eric Lee fifth.

Fast qualifier Ross Kenseth was sixth. NASCAR Sprint Cup driver David Ragan finished 18th after dropping out after 55 laps due to engine problems. Todd Gilliland, the 14-year-old son of NASCAR driver David Gilliland, finished 20th.

Two-time defending race winner Scott Hantz finished 13th.

As series champion last year, Braden was given the opportunity to test an ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards car at Daytona International Speedway through the Road to Daytona program.

The race was the second of the week for the ARCA/CRA Super Series, which raced at Kalamazoo Speedway on Wednesday. The series next goes to Winchester Speedway Sept. 1.
