(MILLERSPORT, Ohio - July 8, 2012) - ARCA Truck Series veteran Levi Mansfield earned his first career pole, led 93 of 100 laps, and won for the first time in the series Friday night at Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio.
Mansfield had previously finished no higher than fourth, and before this year had not driven in the series since 2008. Now, Mansfield has top-five finishes in four of his first five races in 2012 - and a win, to boot.
"Oh man, it's about time," he said. "We've been working at this for a long, long time. We knew this was a bad fast truck when we unloaded and we just knew we had to be patient and not get caught up in anything. In the middle of the race, we just tried to save our tires because the right rear kept getting hotter. But the cautions helped us out."
Mansfield passed for the lead on Lap 8. Shawn Szep provided a worthy challenge but fell off late in the race. Chris Bailey Jr., who led two laps early, finished second, ahead of Steve Christman, Cody Quarrick, and Brandon Huff.
